About the Author

Lee Child was born in Coventry, England on October 29th, 1954. He grew up in Birmingham and coincidentally won a scholarship to the same high school as JRR Tolkien.

Lee went on to attend law school in Sheffield before starting a career in the arts. He worked for Granada Television in Manchester for 18 years as a presentation director, where he contributed to the production of some of the most successful British TV shows of the time including Brideshead Revisited, Prime Suspect, and Cracker.

Unfortunately, he was laid off in 1995 due to corporate restructuring.

Despite this setback, Lee saw an opportunity and decided to pursue his passion for writing. He bought paper and pencils with only six dollars and began writing his first book, Killing Floor.

The book was a hit and launched the Jack Reacher series, which has grown exponentially in popularity with each new installment. The first film adaptation of the series, starring Tom Cruise and Rosamund Pike, was released in 2012.

When he’s not writing, Lee splits his time between his apartment in Manhattan, a country house in the south of France, and the airplane cabin while traveling between the two. He drives a supercharged Jaguar in the US, which was built in the same location he was born.

In his free time, Lee enjoys reading, listening to music, and watching soccer games featuring the Yankees, Aston Villa, or Marseilles. He is married and has a grown-up daughter.

Despite his poor diet and lack of exercise, Lee remains tall and slim.
