Editoral Review

Alpha and Omega: Cry Wolf Volume One by Patricia Briggs is a captivating novel that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Published on January 1, 2009, the book falls under the genre of urban-fantasy and is the first installment in the Alpha and Omega series.

Briggs is a renowned author who has written several New York Times bestsellers that have captivated audiences worldwide. Set in a world where supernatural creatures exist alongside humans, Alpha and Omega: Cry Wolf Volume One follows the story of Anna Latham, an Omega wolf who has been brutally abused by her former pack, and Charles Cornick, son of the leader of North American werewolves.

Charles, an enforcer for his father, is sent to investigate the goings-on in Anna’s pack, and it isn’t long before the two cross paths. As the two investigate the strange occurrences within the pack, they realize that there is more to Anna’s past than meets the eye, and the secrets they uncover threaten to tear the pack apart.

With danger lurking around every corner, Charles and Anna must learn to trust each other and work together to save the pack and themselves. The novel is gripping, with Briggs skillfully weaving together a complex story that is both thrilling and emotional.

The characters are well developed, with Charles and Anna’s personalities and backgrounds carefully crafted to make them relatable and engaging. The pacing of the novel is perfect, as there are no dull moments and the tension never lets up.

Briggs also tackles several themes within the book, including abuse, trauma, and trust. She handles these issues with sensitivity and understanding, providing readers with a thought-provoking read that is sure to stay with them long after they have turned the last page.

One of the strengths of Alpha and Omega: Cry Wolf Volume One is the way Briggs sets up the world. She provides just enough information to make the story understandable while still leaving room for future installments to expand on the lore.

The setting of modern-day Montana is also a nice change of pace from the usual urban-fantasy locales. While there aren’t many weaknesses to the novel, some readers may find the romance between Charles and Anna a bit clich.

However, the chemistry between the two is undeniable, and it’s hard not to root for them throughout the book. Overall, Alpha and Omega: Cry Wolf Volume One is a must-read for anyone who loves urban-fantasy, paranormal romance, or both.

Briggs has created a world that is both fascinating and terrifying, and the characters are unforgettable. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, action-packed stories with heart.
