About the Author

Kelley Armstrong has been a storyteller since she was young, even before she could write. Unfortunately, her early attempts at writing were not well-received.

When asked to write a story about girls and dolls, Kelley would often write about undead girls and evil dolls, much to the disappointment of her teachers. Despite attempts to steer her towards writing “normal” stories, Kelley continued to create tales of ghosts, demons, and werewolves.

Today, Kelley still writes about the supernatural and is often found in her basement writing dungeon. She is the author of several popular series, including the “Women of the Otherworld” paranormal suspense series, the “Darkest Powers” young adult urban fantasy trilogy, and the Nadia Stafford crime series.

Kelley resides in southwestern Ontario with her family and numerous pets.

Editoral Review

Kelley Armstrong’s Angelic is a captivating and thrilling addition to the young adult urban fantasy genre. Armstrong is a New York Times bestselling author known for her supernatural and paranormal novels.

Angelic was first published on December 8, 2009 and has since become a favorite among fans of the genre.

Set in a small town in rural America, Angelic follows the story of Olivia, a teenager who discovers she is an angel-blood, a human-angel hybrid with unique abilities. As she learns more about her powers, she becomes embroiled in a conflict between two factions of angel-bloods who have opposing beliefs about their purpose on earth.

Along the way, she teams up with a group of angel-bloods who share her beliefs, including the charming and mysterious Gabriel.

Armstrong’s writing style is engaging and descriptive, drawing the reader into the world she has created. The plot is well-paced and filled with action, suspense, and unexpected twists, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat until the very end.

The characters are complex and well-developed, each with their own motivations and backstories that add depth to the story.

One of the strengths of Angelic is the way Armstrong explores themes of identity, belonging, and morality. Through Olivia’s journey, the reader is forced to question their own beliefs about what it means to be human and what our purpose is on earth.

The book also touches on issues of prejudice and discrimination, as the different factions of angel-bloods clash over their beliefs.

While Angelic is a well-crafted and enjoyable read, it is not without its flaws. Some readers may find the romantic subplot between Olivia and Gabriel to be predictable or clichéd.

Additionally, the world-building could have been more detailed and fleshed out, leaving some questions unanswered.

Despite these limitations, Angelic is a must-read for fans of young adult urban fantasy. It is a thrilling and thought-provoking story that will leave readers wanting more.

Armstrong has created a rich and imaginative world that is sure to capture the imagination of readers.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Angelic to anyone who enjoys the young adult urban fantasy genre. It is a well-written, action-packed, and thought-provoking novel that is sure to satisfy readers.

I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
