Overview

Looking for a collection of dark fiction that doesn’t take itself too seriously? Look no further than Blood Lite.

With stories that are both hilariously ironic and delightfully twisted, this anthology will have you laughing through your fear. Charlaine Harris explores the dark side of environmentalism in “An Evening with Al Gore,” while Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden takes on the paranormal in “Day Off.” Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “Where Angels Fear to Tread” turns an MBA into a demon-slaying hero, and that’s just the beginning.

With tales from some of the best names in horror and dark fantasy, including Joe R. Lansdale, Steven Savile, and Jeff Strand, Blood Lite is guaranteed to both chill and amuse.

So sit back, relax, and let the blood flow–and the laughter reign.

About the Author

Welcome to my Amazon author page! As you can see, I have quite the collection of books. If you’re new to my work, let me suggest a few titles to get you started.

For some humor-filled horror mysteries, try my Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series, beginning with DEATH WARMED OVER. If you’re in the mood for some steampunk fantasy, CLOCKWORK ANGELS and CLOCKWORK LIVES, co-written with Neil Peart, will transport you to a different world.

And for those interested in science fiction epics, the first book in my Saga of Seven Suns series is HIDDEN EMPIRE.

Once you’ve given those a try, be sure to check out my other series! I’ve also written spin-off novels for popular franchises such as Star Wars, StarCraft, Titan A.E., and The X-Files. In addition, I’ve co-authored the Dune prequels and written several comic books, including Tales of the Jedi for Dark Horse, Predator titles, and X-Files titles for Topps.

In addition to writing, I also serve as a judge for the Writers of the Future contest. My wife, Rebecca Moesta, is also an author, and we currently reside near Monument, Colorado.

Thanks for stopping by!

Editoral Review

Blood Lite by Kevin J. Anderson is a collection of humorous horror stories that were originally published in 2008.

Anderson is a prolific writer, with over 140 books to his name, including novels in the Star Wars, X-Files, and Dune universes. The anthology includes 21 short stories ranging in tone from tongue-in-cheek comedy to genuinely macabre.

The stories were written by different authors, including Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, and Sherrilyn Kenyon. Some take on classic horror tropes, like werewolves and vampires, while others put unusual twists on everyday situations.

One story, “Biting in Plain Sight” by Erin McCarthy, features a vampire who seeks out a job as a dentist. Another, “Sell By Date” by Holly Lisle, depicts the world of a grocery store where the meat is not only past its prime but has developed a taste for human flesh.

Overall, the stories are entertaining and quick to read. They don’t delve too deeply into character development or complex themes but instead offer a fun and lighthearted take on the horror genre.

However, not all of the stories are equally successful. Some rely too much on puns or jokes that fall flat, while others feel rushed or underdeveloped.

“The Unfortunate Mr. Morkwell” by Brian Keene, for example, seems to be missing a crucial scene that would explain its resolution. Additionally, the anthology’s title may mislead readers into believing that the stories are gory or violent, when they are more likely to elicit chuckles than shrieks.

Fans of horror and comedic fiction will likely enjoy Blood Lite, particularly those who appreciate the works of the authors included in the anthology. The stories are a bit of a mixed bag, but they offer a welcome break from more serious fare.

I would give the book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, based on its entertainment value and the quality of some of its stories.
