Editoral Review

Blood Wager by Connie Suttle is a paranormal romance novel that was first published in June 2011. The book follows the life of a young woman named Lissa, who has recently discovered that she is a rare type of vampire known as a Null.

This means that she does not possess the usual vampire traits, such as super strength or the ability to heal. Instead, Lissa has the power to nullify the abilities of other vampires, which makes her a valuable asset to the supernatural community.

The author, Connie Suttle, is an experienced and prolific writer who has published numerous books in the paranormal romance genre. Her writing style is engaging and fast-paced, with a focus on action and drama.

Blood Wager is an excellent example of her work, showcasing her skill at creating complex characters and plotting intricate storylines. The novel is set in a world where vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures exist alongside humans.

The story takes place in the small town of Rancho Santa Clara, where Lissa has recently moved in with her aunt and uncle. She is struggling to come to terms with her newfound powers and is trying to navigate the complex hierarchy of the supernatural community.

The main conflict in the story arises when Lissa is kidnapped by a powerful vampire named Christophe. He wants to use her powers for his own nefarious purposes, and Lissa must use all of her wits and strength to escape his clutches.

Along the way, she meets other vampires who become her allies, including a mysterious and alluring man named Jamey. Blood Wager is a well-crafted novel that skillfully blends elements of romance, drama, and action.

The characters are well-drawn and complex, and the plot is full of twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The world-building is excellent, with detailed descriptions of the supernatural community and its rules and customs.

One of the strengths of the novel is its treatment of the theme of power and its corrupting influence. Christophe is a classic example of a villain who has been corrupted by his own desire for power, and Lissa must decide whether to use her own powers for good or for evil.

The novel also touches on themes of identity and belonging, as Lissa struggles to find her place in a world that is both familiar and strange to her. One weakness of the novel is that it can be a bit confusing at times.

The supernatural community is complex, and there are a lot of different characters with different motivations and agendas. Some readers may find it difficult to keep track of everything that is going on.

Overall, Blood Wager is an excellent novel that will appeal to fans of the paranormal romance genre. It is well-written, engaging, and full of interesting characters and plot twists.

I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good supernatural romance. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
