Editoral Review

Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost is an enthralling addition to the paranormal romance genre. Frost has made a name for herself in the genre with her Night Huntress series and this fourth installment lives up to expectations.

Published on January 27th, 2015, Bound by Flames continues the story of Leila, a psychic and her vampire husband, Vlad. Frosts writing style is engaging and she has an undeniable talent for world-building.

The characters are richly developed and their interactions with one another are enchanting. The fast-paced plot is full of action and has enough twists and turns to keep readers on their toes.

The setting of the story is mainly in Europe, even including a trip to Dracula’s Castle, adding to the gothic atmosphere. The book explores the complexities of relationships and trust, particularly when one is in a marriage to an immortal vampire.

Unlike other stories in the genre, Bound by Flames highlights the importance of consent within a romantic relationship, particularly given Vlad’s immortality, and it is a refreshing take. However, while the book is a compelling read, it does have some flaws.

In particular, Frost’s decision to introduce more international politics into the storyline made the plot appear convoluted at times. It also detracted from the focus on the romance between Leila and Vlad.

Additionally, the multiple storylines that run parallel with the main plot seemed unnecessary. Overall, Bound by Flames is a solid addition to Frost’s Night Prince series and is a must-read for fans of the genre.

It’s an entertaining blend of romance and action with a refreshing emphasis on consent within romantic relationships, and it will leave readers begging for more. With its charismatic characters, rich world-building, and unrelenting plot twists, Bound by Flames is a book that will definitely satisfy fans of paranormal romance.
