Bound by Temptation by Cora Reilly is an enthralling addition to the Mafia romance genre. Reilly is a seasoned author in this genre, having published numerous books in the series, Born in Blood.
The story follows the love story of Luca and Aria, two people who come from opposing sides of the law, but can’t fight the magnetic pull that draws them towards each other. The novel is set in the gritty underworld of organized crime, where loyalty and betrayal are two sides of the same coin.
The story takes place in the city of Chicago, during a time where the Mafia is fighting to maintain their supremacy in the criminal underground. Reilly has an exceptional talent for character development, which is evident in Bound by Temptation.
Luca and Aria are well-crafted individuals with distinct personalities, motivations, and vulnerabilities that readers can’t help but empathize with. The chemistry between this couple is off the charts, and the tension between them is electric.
Their relationship is complicated by the fact that Luca is the boss of the Mafia family, and Aria is the daughter of his rival, but their connection is too strong to ignore. Reilly’s writing style is fluid and engaging, making it hard to put the book down.
The pacing is evenly distributed, and the action scenes are detailed and unforgettable. The author provides a balanced view of the Mafia world, highlighting the atrocities and consequences of the criminal lifestyle, while also showcasing the often-overlooked human aspects of the characters who live in this world.
