About the Author

Meet Amber Lynn Natusch, the talented author behind the popular Caged series for adults. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, Amber remains firmly connected to her roots.

When she’s not busy running a chiropractic practice with her husband, raising her two young children, or squeezing in a quick Muay Thai session, she enjoys dancing and writing in rare moments of peace (which often require locking herself in the bathroom for ten minutes!). Her latest project is Dare You to Lie, a thrilling YA novel published by Tor Teen.

Editoral Review

In Amber Lynn Natusch’s novel Caged, readers are thrust into a world of werewolves, magic, and danger. The first novel of The Caged series, originally published in 2014, follows Ruby James as she navigates the complexities of her life as a newly-turned werewolf.

Natusch’s writing style is engrossing and captures the essence of the urban fantasy genre. Caged is action-packed from start to finish, with a pacing that keeps readers hooked.

Fans of werewolf stories will appreciate the unique spin that Natusch puts on the classic mythology, incorporating her own twists and turns that keep the story fresh. Ruby James is a compelling protagonist, whose fiery personality and quick wit make her an engaging character to follow.

She quickly realizes that her new reality as a werewolf comes with a dangerous set of enemies and responsibilities she never knew existed. Her journey is filled with challenges, as she learns to control her powers, navigate werewolf politics, and fend off an evil adversary.

The setting of Caged is also richly described, with the reader getting a clear sense of the world that Natusch has created. She imbues the story with a sense of danger and unease, giving the reader a sense of the stakes that Ruby is facing.

The themes of power and control are also explored, as the werewolves in the story struggle with their own internal conflicts and with those who seek to exploit them. One criticism of Caged is that some of the side characters are not as well-developed as Ruby, making it difficult to fully invest in their journeys.

Additionally, while the action in the story is thrilling, some of the plot twists feel slightly predictable. Despite these minor flaws, Caged is a gripping and entertaining read that is sure to appeal to fans of urban fantasy.

Natusch’s writing is skilled and her characters are captivating, making Caged a standout addition to the genre. Overall, I would highly recommend Caged to anyone who enjoys werewolf stories, urban fantasy, or action-packed novels.

Natusch’s unique take on werewolf mythology, coupled with her compelling characters and enthralling world-building, make Caged a must-read for any fan of the genre. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
