Editoral Review

Christmas in High Heels by Gemma Halliday is a delightful cozy mystery novel that is perfect to read during the holiday season. Halliday is an American author who has written over 30 novels in several genres, such as cozy mysteries and romantic comedies.

She is particularly known for her best-selling mysteries featuring the sassy, glamorous and hilarious detective, Maddie Springer. Set in Los Angeles, Christmas in High Heels centers around Maddie’s adventures as she solves a holiday-themed mystery.

The story unfolds as Maddie is hired to investigate the theft of a valuable diamond necklace from a wealthy family’s Christmas tree. However, the case becomes more complicated when the family’s housekeeper is found dead, and Maddie’s own mother becomes a suspect.

Filled with humor, glamour, and suspense, Christmas in High Heels is a fast-paced whodunit that will keep readers guessing until the end. The book has a cast of colorful characters, including Maddie’s quirky best friend, her hunky boyfriend, and her overbearing mother, who all add to the intrigue and wit of the story.

The setting of Los Angeles during the holiday season adds a touch of glamour and glitz to the novel. Halliday’s writing style is easy to read, and her dialogue is witty and engaging.

While the novel is light-hearted and humorous, Halliday does not sacrifice the mystery’s integrity, and the clues are well-placed throughout the story. Although the novel is a part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book.

In terms of weaknesses, the book is predictable in some parts, and the resolution of the mystery is somewhat rushed. The characterization is also a bit superficial, with some characters feeling more like caricatures rather than real people.

However, this does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the novel. Christmas in High Heels is perfect for fans of cozy mysteries or romantic comedies looking for a fun and easy read during the holiday season.

It is ideal for those who love the glittering and fast-paced world of Los Angeles, and the glamorous lives of Hollywood stars. Overall, Christmas in High Heels deserves a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

It is a charming and entertaining novel that is perfect to read by the fireplace with a cup of eggnog during the holiday season.
