About the Author

Katie Maxwell is actually a pen name used by Katie MacAlister, a talented author who hails from Seattle. Her areas of expertise include both fiction and non-fiction, with her most well-known works being in the romance genre, whether it be historical, contemporary, or paranormal.

She’s also a Young Adult author, writing under the name Katie Maxwell, and a Mystery writer, under the pseudonym Kate Marsh.

Reading has been a passion for Katie MacAlister for as long as she can remember. Her love of books stems from her childhood, where going to the library each week was a regular occurrence.

Although she enjoyed reading novels, she never considered writing them until she landed a gig writing a non-fiction book about software. Unfortunately, her editor wouldn’t allow her to add any witty dialogue or love scenes.

This led Katie to switch to writing fiction, where she could create new worlds, torture her characters, and fall hopelessly in love with all of her protagonists.

It took Katie two years of hard work before she sold her first romance novel, Noble Intentions. Since then, she’s written over thirty books, which have been translated into various languages and recorded as audiobooks.

Her novels have also won multiple awards, as well as appearing on the bestseller lists of the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today. Alongside her adult fiction, Katie writes for young adults under the pseudonym Katie Maxwell.

In her free time, Katie lives with her husband and dogs in the Pacific Northwest. She’s also active online, so you might just see her lurking around the internet.

Editoral Review

Confessions of a Vampire’s Girlfriend, by Katie Maxwell, is a thrilling addition to the paranormal romance genre. Maxwell is a prolific writer, having published over ten novels in the young adult and fantasy genres.

Confessions of a Vampire’s Girlfriend was first published on January 1, 2007, and has since gained a cult following among fans of vampire romance and the supernatural. The novel follows the story of Fran, a high school student who falls for a handsome and mysterious boy named Christopher.

Though Fran is at first drawn to Christopher’s dark and brooding attitude, she soon discovers that he is actually a vampire. As she becomes more enmeshed in Christopher’s world of vampires and hidden agendas, she must navigate the dangerous politics of his clan while also struggling with her own desires and fears.

One of the strengths of Confessions of a Vampire’s Girlfriend is its strong characters. Fran is a relatable and sympathetic protagonist, struggling with familiar teenage insecurities while also navigating the intimidating and often violent world of Christopher’s vampire clan.

Christopher, too, is a compelling character, balancing his love for Fran with his responsibilities and obligations to his fellow vampires. Maxwell does an excellent job of building tension between the two characters, keeping the reader invested in their relationship throughout the novel.

The novel’s pacing is also solid, with a steady buildup of tension and twists that keep the reader engaged. Maxwell’s writing is clear and evocative, pulling the reader into Fran’s world with vivid descriptions and believable dialogue.

Despite its supernatural elements, Confessions of a Vampire’s Girlfriend feels grounded and realistic, making it all the more compelling. However, there are some flaws to the novel.

Some readers may find the general conventions of the vampire romance genre to be unoriginal or overdone. The novel’s ending is also somewhat abrupt, leaving some unresolved questions and loose ends.

However, these issues are relatively minor compared to the overall quality of the novel. Overall, Confessions of a Vampire’s Girlfriend is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance and supernatural fiction.

With its compelling characters, evocative writing, and steady pacing, it is a standout example of the genre. Maxwell’s skillful writing and careful attention to detail make this novel a must-read for anyone looking for an exciting and well-written vampire romance.
