Power. Pleasure.

Danger. And that’s just the beginning of this thrilling ride.

In Damaged Goods, New York’s Homicide detective, Brice Marshall, is on the hunt for a serial killer who is preying on young women. When the case becomes too much to handle, he seeks refuge in his cousin’s BDSM club, where he meets Terryn, a new sub who captures his attention.

Terryn is everything he’s been searching for in a partner, but as their relationship deepens, the killer’s reach extends into Brice’s personal life, putting Terryn in danger. Will Brice be able to solve the case and keep Terryn safe, or will their desires lead them both into the killer’s grasp?

Lainey Reese’s Damaged Goods is a gripping tale of love, lust, and danger that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

About the Author

Lainey was born in Tacoma, Washington but spent most of her childhood in Nevada and California. As the youngest of five siblings, she always dreamed of becoming an actress and writing her own blockbuster stories.

Although her desire to be on the big screen dwindled as she grew older, her passion for writing remained steadfast. At the age of 17, Lainey discovered her love for romance novels and knew that this was her true calling.

These books resonated with her heart and mind, and everything just fell into place like a combination lock.

Despite her fear and self-doubt, Lainey took the leap in 2010 and wrote her first novel, A Table For Three. It was published in February of that year, and since then, she has never looked back.

She still holds onto the dream of seeing one of her stories come to life on the big screen.

Lainey now resides in Marysville, Washington with her husband and two dogs. Her daughter is currently attending college in Bellingham.

Keep an eye out for her upcoming thriller, The Pod, set to be released later this year.

Editoral Review

In Lainey Reese’s Damaged Goods, readers are swept into a world of BDSM and romance. First published in August 2012, the novel explores the lifestyle of a dominant man and a submissive woman, and how it affects their daily lives and romantic relationships.

Reese, a prolific author of erotic romance novels, brings her signature steamy writing style to the fore in this book. The story takes place in contemporary New York City and revolves around the lives of two protagonists, Sarah and James.

Despite working for the same company, the two meet only when Sarah chances upon James engaging in a BDSM scene in a private club. Intrigued by the lifestyle, Sarah decides to explore it with James.

Over time, their relationship becomes more complex, as they navigate the boundaries of their attraction and deal with the consequences of revealing their lifestyle to others. Reese successfully captures the nuances of BDSM culture in her writing, providing readers with a detailed and compelling account of what it entails.

The dynamics of Sarah and James’ relationship are presented in a sensitive and insightful way, and the author manages to portray the emotional and physical aspects of BDSM without reducing them to mere titillation. The portrayal of Sarah as a strong, independent woman who willingly enters into a BDSM relationship challenges traditional gender roles and highlights the complexity of relationships within the BDSM community.

Additionally, the author provides a window into the minds of those who identify as dominant or submissive, exploring the psychology behind the lifestyle and the motivations that drive people to participate in it. However, there are some limitations to the book.

At times, the pacing of the story feels a bit rushed, with the plot moving from one scene to the next without much time for reflection. Additionally, some readers may find the explicit details of the BDSM scenes uncomfortable, which may limit the book’s appeal to a wider audience.

Despite its limitations, Damaged Goods is a well-written and engaging novel that provides an insight into BDSM culture that is often misunderstood or misrepresented. Reese has a talent for crafting complex characters and relationships, and her writing is both evocative and nuanced.

For lovers of erotica and romance, this book is a must-read. Overall, I would give Damaged Goods 4 out of 5 stars, based on its compelling themes, excellent writing, and unique perspective on BDSM culture.
