Editoral Review

Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes is a riveting thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. This debut novel was first published on February 8, 2022, and has been making waves in the literary world ever since.

Barnes is a talented writer who has expertly crafted a story that is both suspenseful and thought-provoking. The book is a classic crime thriller with a bit of a twist.

The main character, Detective Olivia Steele, is assigned to investigate a series of murders that have taken place in her small town. As she delves deeper into the case, she realizes that there is a serial killer on the loose who is targeting women with a very specific profile.

But when Olivia starts to uncover clues that point to a cover-up and corruption within her department, things become even more dangerous. Barnes has created a host of compelling characters in Dead Silence.

Olivia is a complex and flawed protagonist who readers will immediately root for. Her determination to solve the case and her reluctance to back down in the face of danger make her a fascinating character to follow.

The other characters, both the victims and suspects, are equally well-drawn and add depth to the story. The pacing of the book is spot-on, with just the right amount of tension and suspense to keep readers engaged.

The plot is tightly woven, with twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end. Barnes has also infused the story with themes of corruption, misogyny, and power, making it a timely read in today’s world.

While Dead Silence is a strong debut novel, it does have some weaknesses. The plot can be a bit convoluted at times, and some readers may find it difficult to keep track of all the different characters and plot threads.

Additionally, some of the secondary characters could have been more fully developed. Despite these flaws, Dead Silence is an excellent addition to the crime thriller genre, and fans of the genre will not be disappointed.

Barnes is a talented writer with a bright future ahead of her. This book is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys fast-paced, suspenseful thrillers.

Overall, I give Dead Silence 4 out of 5 stars. While it has some weaknesses, it is a strong debut novel that is sure to please readers.
