About the Author

Anthony Horowitz, a renowned author and creator of award-winning detective series such as Foyle’s War and Collision, has been writing since he was eight years old and professionally since he was twenty. His Alex Rider books are highly successful and he has also written episodes for television shows like Poirot and Midsomer Murders.

In 2009, Horowitz became a patron of the East Anglia Children’s Hospices.

In 2011, the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle announced that Horowitz would write a new Sherlock Holmes novel titled the House of Silk. This announcement was significant because it marked the first time that the estate had officially endorsed a new Sherlock Holmes novel.

The New York Times has ranked Horowitz alongside Enid Blyton and Mark A. Cooper as “The most original and best spy-kids authors of the century.”

Editoral Review

Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz is a fast-paced and exciting addition to the Alex Rider series. Horowitz is a British author known for his young adult fiction and suspense thrillers, and Eagle Strike does not disappoint in terms of gripping action and intrigue.

The novel follows teenage spy Alex Rider as he tries to unravel a dangerous plot involving a well-known businessman, Damian Cray. Cray, who seems to have the whole world at his fingertips, is actually a ruthless criminal with a grand plan to take over the world using nanotechnology.

Alex, with the help of his friends at MI6, must stop Cray and his henchmen before it’s too late. Horowitz’s writing style is crisp and engaging, with thrilling action sequences that keep the reader hooked from start to finish.

The novel is well-paced and effectively creates suspense, leading up to the climactic final showdown. The character development is also well-done, particularly with Alex Rider, who is a relatable protagonist with a strong sense of justice.

One of the standout features of Eagle Strike is its exploration of themes such as power, greed, and corruption. The novel touches upon the dark side of high finance and how it can be used for nefarious purposes.

It also poses the question of how far someone would go to achieve ultimate power and control. While Eagle Strike is an enjoyable read, it could have benefited from deeper exploration of some of its themes and a more nuanced portrayal of its characters.

The villains, in particular, feel somewhat one-dimensional at times, lacking the complexity and depth that would make them truly memorable. Overall, Eagle Strike is an excellent addition to the Alex Rider series and a great read for young adult audiences who enjoy adventure and suspense.

Horowitz’s writing style is accessible and engaging, making the novel a must-read for fans of the genre.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fast-paced thrillers and spy novels.

The story is exciting and action-packed, making it a perfect choice for a weekend read. The novel is well-suited for young adult audiences looking for an entertaining and engaging story.

I give Eagle Strike a rating of 8 out of 10, primarily for its excellent pacing, engaging writing style, and well-defined protagonist.
