After surviving a plane crash that killed her parents, Tavia Michaels is struggling to find answers about her past. She begins to see visions of a boy she has never met and feels a strong connection to him.

As she delves deeper into her search for the truth, Tavia discovers that her aunt and uncle, who took her in after her parents’ death, may have been responsible for the crash. Feeling betrayed and alone, Tavia follows the boy in her visions to Camden, Maine for safety.

With no one to trust, except for her childhood friend and crush, Benson, Tavia must choose between the boy in her visions and the boy who has always been by her side. As the world falls apart around them, Tavia realizes that she must unite with the boy in her visions to save the world.

But doing so means rejecting Benson’s love, something Tavia never thought she would have to do. Can she make the right choice before it’s too late?

Editoral Review

Aprilynne Pikes Earthbound is a thrilling and imaginative addition to the genre of young adult fiction. Pike, who is best known for her Wings series, has written a captivating novel that weaves supernatural elements with themes of love, loss, and personal growth.

The story follows Tavia Michaels, a teenage girl struggling to navigate life after the death of her father. Things take a turn for the mysterious when Tavia begins to experience strange abilities and discovers that she is not entirely human.

Along with her new friend, Benson, Tavia embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about her identity and the dark forces that are hunting her down. Pikes writing is captivating and immersive, with vivid descriptions that bring the storys settings to life.

The plot is well-paced, with plenty of action and suspense to keep readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are well-developed and likable, with relatable struggles and motivations.

One of the strengths of Earthbound is its exploration of the themes of power and identity. Tavias discovery of her supernatural abilities raises questions about the nature of power and responsibility, and her struggle to come to terms with her identity is a universal theme that will resonate with readers of all ages.

While there are some elements of the plot that can feel predictable at times, Pikes skillful storytelling and world-building more than make up for any shortcomings. There are also some heavy-handed moments of foreshadowing that may detract from the reading experience for some, though others may appreciate the added tension and intrigue.

Overall, Earthbound is an engrossing and entertaining read that will appeal to fans of young adult fantasy and supernatural fiction. Pikes talent for creating vivid characters and immersive settings make this a must-read for anyone looking for a thrilling escape from reality.
