Editoral Review

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer is the third book in the bestselling Twilight Saga, first published on August 7, 2007. Meyer, an American author, is known for her young adult paranormal romance novels.

Her works have sold over 120 million copies worldwide, making her one of the most successful authors of all time. Eclipse received critical acclaim and became an instant hit, successfully continuing the love story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, while introducing new threats and challenges.

The novel takes place in Forks, a small town in Washington, where Bella Swan, a human teenager, is torn between her love for Edward Cullen, a vampire, and Jacob Black, a werewolf. While Bella is trying to decide which path to choose, Seattle is being terrorized by a group of newborn vampires, who are out to kill Bella.

Edward and Jacob must put aside their differences and team up to protect Bella, but their rivalry intensifies, leading to a dangerous and thrilling climax. Meyer skillfully creates a world where vampires and werewolves coexist, while also exploring themes of love, loyalty, sacrifice, and choice.

The characters are complex and well-developed, with Bella portrayed as a strong, independent young woman, who chooses her own destiny. The setting of Forks is beautifully described, evoking the small town feel and the breathtaking nature surrounding it.

However, the book does have its flaws. The pacing is slow at times, with long descriptions and internal monologues, which could have been shortened.

The love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob can also become overwhelming and predictable, with moments of repetition. Overall, Eclipse is a captivating and romantic read, with a thrilling plot and well-rounded characters.

Meyer’s writing style is engaging and descriptive, allowing the reader to be immersed in the story. It is a must-read for fans of the Twilight Saga and of young adult romantic fiction.

Eclipse earns 4 out of 5 stars, with the criteria being the quality of writing, character development, pacing, plot structure, and themes.
