About the Author

Since she was young, Katie MacAlister has been an avid reader. Her family made it a weekly tradition to visit the library, and Katie would often get lost in the pages of a book.

While she enjoyed reading novels, she didn’t consider writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Frustrated that her editor wouldn’t allow her to include any witty dialogue or love scenes, she decided to shift her focus to fiction.

Here, she could unleash her creativity and enjoy building new worlds, torturing her characters, and falling head over heels for her heroes.

Two years later, Katie sold her first romance novel, Noble Intentions. She went on to write over thirty books, many of which have been translated into multiple languages, recorded as audiobooks, and recognized with various awards.

Her works have also landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. Additionally, she writes for young adults under the pen name Katie Maxwell, and pens mysteries as Kate Marsh.

Currently residing in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and furry companions, Katie can often be found lurking online.

Editoral Review

Even Vampires Get the Blues by Katie MacAlister is a charming, witty and seductive novel that is sure to entertain any fan of paranormal romance. MacAlister, a bestselling author known for her sassy heroines and hilarious quips, delivers another delightful tale of love and adventure between supernatural beings.

Set in modern-day Seattle, the story follows the antics of Francesca Ghetti, a beautiful vampire who is bored of immortality and longs for something more exciting in her undead life. When she accidentally saves a human detective from an assassination attempt, she finds herself falling head over heels for the handsome and charming enforcer, Brynley Jones.

However, their romance is threatened by the return of a vengeful ex-lover and a dangerous conspiracy that could destroy the delicate balance between humans and vampires. MacAlister’s writing style is fast-paced, witty and engaging, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and steamy romance scenes that will leave readers swooning.

Her world-building is also impressive, with vivid descriptions of the vampire society and their intricate customs and hierarchies. The unique twist on the traditional vampire mythology is refreshing and adds an exciting element to the story.

However, it must be noted that the book is not without its flaws. The plot can be somewhat predictable at times, and some of the characters can come across as one-dimensional.

Additionally, the ending may be a bit unsatisfying for some readers who were hoping for a more conclusive resolution to the conflict. Despite these minor issues, Even Vampires Get the Blues is a fun and entertaining read that is perfect for those who enjoy a lighthearted, sexy and humorous take on the vampire genre.

Fans of Charlaine Harris, Lynsay Sands and Sherrilyn Kenyon will find MacAlister’s novel a worthy addition to their bookshelves. Overall, I give Even Vampires Get the Blues a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It is a fun and easy read that will keep readers captivated from start to finish.
