His PR team is no help, as they fuel their fantasies. When a pop star is murdered, Eric realizes that he has to do something to change his online image – even if it means taking down his biggest fan.

But when trolling @TessaHeartsEric turns into an unexpected online relationship, both Tessa and Eric find themselves drawn to each other more than they ever thought possible. As they plan to meet in person, they soon realize that not everything is what it seems.

Editoral Review

Follow Me Back is a young adult thriller novel written by A.V. Geiger and first published on June 6, 2017. The novel follows the story of Tessa Hart, a social media-obsessed teenager who becomes the object of Eric Thorn’s, a famous pop star’s, attention.

As their online relationship develops, it becomes clear that Eric is not what he seems, setting off a chain of events that puts both Tessa’s and Eric’s lives in danger. Geiger’s writing style is concise and punchy, which is fitting for a novel that is character-driven and suspense-filled.

The novel explores the themes of identity, fame, and obsession, all while keeping readers glued to the page. Follow Me Back is a unique blend of thriller and romance, and caters to the current trend of social media and online culture.

The storytelling is well-paced and keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. Geiger’s use of multiple perspectives and non-linear storytelling adds to the tension, keeping the reader guessing about what will happen next.

The character development in Follow Me Back is impressive. Both Tessa and Eric are relatable and well-drawn, with their motivations and actions portrayed in a way that feels organic and true to life.

The supporting characters are also well fleshed out, adding depth and complexity to the story. The novel’s main flaw is that the ending feels a bit rushed and convenient.

The climax and resolution of the story are satisfying, but it would have benefited from a few more pages to fully explore the aftermath of the events that transpired. Overall, Follow Me Back is a gripping read that showcases Geiger’s talent for storytelling.

Fans of thrillers and YA romance will find this novel a worthy addition to their bookshelf. The book’s themes of identity, fame, and obsession are topical and relevant, and Geiger’s exploration of these themes through the lens of social media is both thought-provoking and entertaining.

I would recommend this novel to young adults who are looking for a suspense-filled read that explores the darker side of social media and fame culture. It is also a great choice for anyone who enjoys a good thriller with healthy doses of romance and mystery.

On a scale of one to five stars, I would give Follow Me Back a solid four, with points deducted for the rushed ending.
