About the Author

SJ Scott, a bestselling author, once dreamt of becoming Luke Skywalker. However, his lack of physical grace and introverted demeanor prevented him from becoming a Jedi Knight and battling the Sith menace on Earth.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Scott earned a degree in psychology after college. He then pursued further education and earned his Master’s in business during a brief stint in the US Air Force.

After working for a company reminiscent of the one depicted in the film “Office Space,” Scott vowed to work for himself. He spent the next few years making a decent living online and transitioning to writing books, blogging, and podcasting.

He has authored over 30 books, mostly in the self-improvement genre, which he is passionate about. His books have been published in 12 languages, putting him well on his way to world domination.

However, he acknowledges that he will have to confront the Sith menace in the universe someday.

Editoral Review

“Smart, practical, and easy to implement, Habit Stacking: 127 Small Actions That Take Five Minutes or Less by S.J. Scott is a must-read for anyone interested in self-improvement. Scott is a prolific author who has written extensively on topics such as productivity and habit formation, and this book is a fantastic addition to his catalog.

The book is a self-help guide that aims to help readers form new habits by stacking small actions together. Each habit “stack” consists of three parts: a trigger, an action, and a reward.

The trigger is something that prompts you to do the action, and the reward is something that reinforces the behavior. The book is divided into chapters that cover different areas of life, such as health, productivity, and relationships.

Each chapter contains multiple habit stacks that readers can choose to implement.

The writing is clear and concise, and the advice is actionable and easy to follow.

The beauty of the book is in its simplicity. The habits are small, so they don’t require a significant investment of time or energy.

The focus is on consistency and building momentum, rather than on overhauling your life all at once.

The book’s biggest strength is that it provides concrete examples of habit stacks that readers can apply in their own lives.

For example, Scott suggests a habit stack for improving posture that involves standing up straight whenever you answer the phone. He also includes habit stacks for reducing stress, improving focus, and improving sleep quality.

The book is not without its flaws, however. Some readers may find that the habit stacks are too basic or not applicable to their specific circumstances.

Others may feel that the book is too repetitive, as the same basic principles are applied to different areas of life. There is also a risk of readers becoming overwhelmed by the sheer number of habit stacks provided in the book.

Overall, Habit Stacking: 127 Small Actions That Take Five Minutes or Less is a valuable resource for anyone looking to build new habits. Its practical advice, clear writing, and easy-to-implement strategies make it a standout in the crowded world of self-help books.
