About the Author

Sophie Jordan’s love for writing began during her high school days. She would often daydream during Spanish class and eventually started writing her first historical romance.

This passion for writing led her to pursue a degree in English and History.

Although she briefly studied law, Sophie realized that literature was her true calling, and that teaching English would be a natural fit. She spent several years teaching high school students to love literature but eventually resigned to focus on her dream of writing.

After just three years, Sophie’s first book was published, and it received great recognition as a 2006 Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Nominee for Best First Historical. Her second novel, which was released in March 2007, was a huge success, landing on the USA Today Bestseller’s List.

Editoral Review

How to Lose a Bride in One Night by Sophie Jordan is a captivating historical romance novel featuring a strong-willed heroine and a handsome hero who must navigate their way through unexpected challenges and deceit in order to be together. Sophie Jordan is no stranger to the romance genre, having penned numerous bestsellers such as The Duke’s Stolen Bride and The Virgin and the Rogue.

In How to Lose a Bride in One Night, Jordan crafts a well-paced and engaging story that will keep readers thoroughly entertained. Set in 19th century England, the novel follows Lady Aileen Gifford, a headstrong and independent woman who has her sights set on marrying for love rather than for convenience.

When she meets the dashing Captain Stephen Fairfax, Aileen thinks she has found her perfect match. However, when Stephen’s true identity is revealed as a spy for the English government, Aileen becomes caught up in a dangerous game of espionage.

Jordan does an excellent job of bringing her characters to life, with each one feeling fully fleshed out and multi-dimensional. Aileen is a particularly compelling heroine, refusing to back down in the face of danger and fighting for what she believes in.

Stephen is equally engaging, with his brooding demeanor and rugged good looks making him the perfect romantic lead. The plot is well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.

Jordan seamlessly weaves together the themes of love, betrayal, and duty into a satisfying and emotionally resonant story. While the historical and cultural significance of the book may not be particularly groundbreaking, the novel is a wonderful escape into a bygone era, showcasing the customs and beliefs of the time.

If there is one flaw with the book, it is perhaps that the plot can feel slightly predictable at times. Some readers may be able to guess the ending from early on in the story, although this does not necessarily detract from the overall enjoyment of the novel.

Overall, How to Lose a Bride in One Night is a well-written and engaging romance novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. Jordan’s strong character development and expert storytelling make this a standout addition to her already impressive body of work.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a thrilling and heartwarming read. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
