About the Author

Karen Marie Moning once felt a strong pull towards being the captain of a starship, but since that wasn’t possible, she chose to explore the universe through writing fiction. She believes that books are doors to endless adventure.

Moning is a New York Times bestselling author, known for her Fever Series and Highlander novels.

Moning attended Purdue University, where she earned a BA in Society & Law, along with minors in Philosophy, Creative Writing, and Theatre. She worked full-time as a bartender and computer consultant during her time there.

Initially, she wanted to attend law school, but after an internship with a firm of Criminal Attorneys, she decided against it. For the next ten years, she worked in insurance, where she wrote intercompany arbitrations and directed commercial litigation.

But she always knew that she wanted to write fiction novels.

Beyond the Highland Mist, her first novel, was published in 1999 and was nominated for two RITA awards. Moning went on to publish six more novels in her award-winning Highlander series, and she received the RITA Award in 2001 for The Highlander’s Touch.

In 2004, she started writing the Fever series, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller. The books have been optioned twice for potential franchise development by Twentieth Century Fox and DreamWorks Studios, but the rights are currently held by Moning.

She has expressed a desire to see it as a television series someday. Her novels have been published in over thirty countries.

Moning splits her time between Ohio and Florida and is currently working on two future projects for Random House Publishing.

Jorge Luis Borges once said, “I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library,” and Moning seems to agree that books hold infinite possibilities for adventure.
