Editoral Review

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Instinct is a paranormal romance that takes readers on a thrilling journey through a world filled with supernatural creatures. Kenyon, a prolific author and best-seller, is well known for her Dark-Hunter series and this book is a worthy addition to her works.

Set in a dystopian universe, Instinct tells the story of Misery, a werewolf forced to live in hiding due to the prejudices of humans towards her kind. Living in constant fear of exposure, her world changes when she meets Riker, a lycanthrope like herself, who is on a mission to protect his pack from the evil that threatens to destroy it.

The characters in Instinct are well developed and engaging. Misery, the protagonist, is a strong and brave woman who has suffered great loss but is determined to fight for what she believes in.

Riker, the male lead, is charming and fiercely protective of his pack, making him appealing to readers. While the romance between them is a central focus of the novel, the author skillfully weaves in action and suspense to keep the readers engaged.

Kenyon’s world-building is fantastic, and her descriptions of the supernatural beings and their powers make for a compelling read. The settings are well-crafted, taking the readers on a journey through the dark alleys of New Orleans to the countryside in Georgia, where the climax of the book takes place.

Instinct is a thrilling and suspenseful read that will appeal to fans of paranormal romance. The pacing is fast and the plot is filled with action and twists that will keep readers on edge.

The themes of prejudice, oppression, and personal freedom are skillfully woven into the story, giving the book a deeper meaning beyond the romance. While the book has its strengths, including well-developed characters and an engaging plot, it also has some weaknesses.

The pacing can feel rushed at times, particularly towards the end. Additionally, some of the twists in the story may be predictable to seasoned readers of the genre.

Overall, Instinct is a solid addition to Kenyon’s vast body of work, and a good choice for a fast-paced and enjoyable read. Fans of Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series will appreciate the paranormal romance and action-packed adventure.

As such, I recommend it to those who appreciate the supernatural romance genre, particularly those who have enjoyed Kenyon’s previous books. On a scale of one to five, I rate Instinct three and a half stars.

The book is well-written, character-driven, and engaging, making it a must-read for fans of the genre. However, some of the weaknesses in the plot and pacing hold it back from receiving a higher rating.
