About the Author

Karen Marie Moning is a successful writer, known for her bestselling books such as the Fever Series and Highlander novels. However, her passion for writing began much earlier.

Moning had a strong desire to become the captain of a starship, but since that wasn’t possible, she chose to explore the universe through writing fiction. For her, books are like doors that lead to endless adventures.

Moning attended Purdue University and completed a BA in Society & Law, with minors in Philosophy, Creative Writing, and Theatre. During her time at the university, she worked full-time as a bartender and computer consultant.

She initially planned to go to law school but changed her mind after an internship with a firm of Criminal Attorneys. She then worked in insurance for ten years and wrote intercompany arbitrations and directed commercial litigation.

At the age of thirty, Moning decided it was time to pursue her dream of writing fiction novels. She published her first book, Beyond the Highland Mist in 1999, which received two RITA award nominations.

She then went on to publish six more novels in the Highlander series, winning the RITA Award in 2001 for The Highlander’s Touch. In 2004, she began writing the Fever series, which became the #1 New York Times bestseller.

The books have been optioned twice for potential franchise development by Twentieth Century Fox and DreamWorks Studios, but the rights are currently held by Moning who wishes to see it as a television series one day. Her novels have been published in over thirty countries.

Moning divides her time between Ohio and Florida and is currently working on two future projects for Random House Publishing. As Jorge Luis Borges once said, “I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.” For Moning, writing is her paradise, and she continues to create endless adventures for her readers through her books.

Editoral Review

Into the Dreaming by Karen Marie Moning is a captivating novel first published on August 29, 2006. Moning is a bestselling author, best known for her intense, steamy storytelling style.

Into the Dreaming is a contemporary Scottish romance that combines historical elements with a supernatural twist. The plot follows Aeden MacKinnon, a Scottish Warrior from the 16th century who is cursed by a wizard and trapped in the realm of the Fae.

Intending to free him from his captivity, the fairy queen, Aibheaog, enlists the help of Jane Sillee, a modern-day woman, who has dreamt of Aeden since she was a child. The novel is set in both Scotland and New York City and skillfully weaves together the fairy world with the real world.

The characters are richly developed, and readers will become invested in the romance between Aeden and Jane. Throughout the novel, Moning explores themes of love, betrayal, redemption, and the power of dreams.

She does so in a way that feels fresh and captivating, even for readers who might not typically enjoy literary romance novels. Although some readers might find the novel predictable in terms of its basic setup, Moning’s storytelling skills are undeniable.

She has a way of bringing readers into her imaginary world and immersing them in the characters’ experiences. Her descriptive and imaginative writing draws readers in, making them feel as though they are a part of the story.

However, the novel does have a few flaws. While the romance between the two main characters is undoubtedly steamy, some readers may find it too predictable or formulaic.

Additionally, some of the secondary characters feel slightly underdeveloped, and it may be challenging to keep track of all the different types of Fae in the story. Overall, Into the Dreaming is an engaging and well-written novel that is perfect for fans of steamy romance novels with a unique twist.

Moning’s writing style keeps readers engaged throughout the novel, making it a great summer read. For those who enjoy her writing, they will find that Into the Dreaming is another great addition to her oeuvre.

We rate Into the Dreaming with 4 out of 5 stars, highlighting the excellent quality of writing, character development, and creativity, while acknowledging some minor flaws. Our recommendation is for readers who love romance, fantasy, and Scottish culture to give Into the Dreaming a chance.
