Overview

Parker and Charlie had it all planned out. They were high school sweethearts with dreams of marriage and a family.

But life had other plans. In a tragic accident, Parker loses Charlie and their unborn child.

Fifteen years later, Parker is still struggling to move on. He can’t stand to be in the same room as Charlie’s sister, Liv, without feeling the weight of his loss.

Liv feels the same way, haunted by memories of her sister and the love she lost. They’re like oil and water, constantly at odds.

But when a family emergency forces them to work together, they begin to see each other in a new light. Maybe they can find healing and forgiveness, and a new love that they never expected.

About the Author

Lani Lynn Vale found the love of her life in high school, and they have been happily married ever since. What caught her eye was his choice of attire – he was wearing baseball pants.

Today, they have three wonderfully chaotic children and a mischievous cat named Demon who loves to interrupt her sleep at odd hours. They reside in the beautiful state of Texas, which Lani adores.

As an author, she specializes in contemporary and romantic suspense genres, and has a soft spot for all things romantic. When she’s not busy crafting stories in her imaginative world, she can usually be found in front of her computer.

However, her husband and kids often pull her away when they need sustenance in the form of food and drink.

Editoral Review

In It Happens, author Lani Lynn Vale delivers a compelling romantic suspense novel filled with intrigue and heart-pounding action. Vale, a versatile writer with over thirty books to her credit, shows once again why shes one of the best in the genre.

The book follows the story of Ember, a successful businesswoman who finds herself in a life-or-death situation when a masked gunman breaks into her home. Luckily, shes saved by Vincent, a former soldier who just happens to be in the right place at the right time.

As Ember and Vincent work together to uncover the reason for the attack, they begin to feel a mutual attraction that threatens to complicate their already dangerous situation. Vales writing style is masterful, showing an adeptness for creating vivid characters and evocative settings.

While the plot revolves around Ember and Vincent, the story also features a host of secondary characters who add depth and nuance to the narrative. The pacing is perfect, with just the right mix of action and romance to keep readers engaged from beginning to end.

One of the strengths of It Happens is the way the author weaves themes of loyalty and betrayal into the plot. As Ember and Vincent navigate their dangerous situation, they learn to trust each other implicitly, and the lines between friends and foes become increasingly blurred.

Vale also skillfully uses the book to explore themes of identity and personal growth, making the story both entertaining and thought-provoking. One of the few flaws of the book is that the plot is slightly predictable, with some plot twists feeling slightly contrived.

Despite this, the narrative is so engaging that readers are likely to overlook this minor issue. Overall, It Happens is an excellent addition to the romantic suspense genre, showcasing Lani Lynn Vales considerable talent.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller, especially those who are fans of authors like Sandra Brown or Lisa Jackson. With its compelling characters, intricate plot, and evocative settings, It Happens is a book that should not be missed.

I would give this novel 4 out of 5 stars.
