Editoral Review

In “Love Warrior”, Glennon Doyle Melton courageously opens up about her struggles with addiction, infidelity, and the difficulties of being a modern day wife and mother. Published in September 2016, this memoir has become a New York Times bestseller, captivating readers with its raw honesty and emotionally charged narrative.

Melton, a popular mommy blogger and author of the bestselling memoir “Carry On, Warrior”, bares her soul in this unique work, depicted by her own experience as a recovering addict, and invites her audience to witness her journey of self-discovery and healing. She shares her lived experience of addiction, recovery, and infidelity, as well as her journey towards self-acceptance and redemption.

The memoir explores themes such as addiction, marriage problems, motherhood, faith, and spirituality, among others. These topics are woven together seamlessly in a coherent and insightful narrative that is both engaging and emotionally resonant.

The story starts with Melton’s reflection on her picture-perfect life with her husband, Craig, and their three children. However, her world is shattered when she discovers that her husband has been unfaithful.

The revelation leads to a period of intense self-examination where she confronts her addiction, examines her values, and, ultimately, confronts the truth about her life. Throughout the book, Melton’s writing is heartbreakingly candid, emotional and spiritual.

She writes about her journey to find her true self, shedding light on addiction and the journey towards recovery from a deeply personal, relatable and inspiring perspective. Her narrative style is engaging and intimate, drawing the reader into her world and making them feel as if they right in the middle of her struggle.

One of the strengths of “Love Warrior” is the storytelling. Melton paints vivid and realistic characters whose struggles come alive in the narrative.

Her writing is strong, with excellent pacing and vivid imagery that gives the reader a clear view of the setting and characters. One issue with the book is that in some places, Melton’s language may come across as sentimental, and there seems to be an over-reliance on the metaphorical.

However, this could be attributed to her purposeful aim to portray her story in a deeply personal and engaging way. Overall, “Love Warrior” is a well-written, intimate account of love, loss, addiction, and redemption.

It is a tear-jerker to read, but also has uplifting moments that leave the reader feeling hopeful. This book is suitable for anyone going through any kind of struggles or anyone who enjoys reading thoughtful memoirs.

It is a must-read for fans of Glennon Doyle Melton’s other works, and for anyone seeking to connect with their emotions at a deeper level. I would give “Love Warrior” a rating of 4/5.

Melton’s storytelling is excellent, and her ability to weave together various themes and emotions make for a captivating memoir. People who have read “Carry On, Warrior” will surely enjoy this new memoir by Melton.

I would highly recommend this memoir to anyone looking for a thought-provoking an inspiring read.
