Editoral Review

Magic to the Bone is a gripping urban fantasy by Annie Bellet that was first published on March 19, 2016. The book is an excellent example of the genre, featuring compelling characters, a well-crafted plot, and a richly detailed setting.

Bellet’s writing style is both engaging and informative, transporting readers into a world where magic is both a gift and a curse. The story follows the adventures of Jade Crow, a powerful sorceress who runs a magical pawn shop in the small town of Wylde, Idaho.

Despite her fearsome reputation, Jade is a kind-hearted and empathetic character who is always willing to help those in need. When the town is threatened by a group of sinister vampires, Jade must use her magical abilities to defeat them and protect her friends.

Bellet’s world-building is impressive, with vivid descriptions of the magical creatures and supernatural forces that populate Jade’s world. The author also tackles complex themes such as identity, power, and responsibility, showing how these issues can affect even the most powerful of sorceresses.

One of the strengths of Magic to the Bone is its character development. Jade is a complex and relatable character who goes through a great deal of growth and change over the course of the book.

Her interactions with the other characters are well-written and nuanced, enabling readers to empathize with her struggles and triumphs. The plot of the book is also well-structured, with plenty of action and suspense to keep readers engaged.

Bellet does an excellent job of balancing the various plot threads, weaving them together in a way that feels organic and satisfying. Despite its many strengths, Magic to the Bone does have a few flaws.

Some readers may find the pacing of the book a bit slow in places, and the dialogue can occasionally feel stilted or awkward. Additionally, the book’s focus on magic and the supernatural may not be to everyone’s taste.

Overall, however, Magic to the Bone is an excellent urban fantasy that is well worth reading. It is a well-written and engaging book that is sure to appeal to fans of the genre.

For those who enjoy stories about magic, mystery, and adventure, this is a book that should not be missed. Rating: 9/10.
