Editoral Review

Merciless Saints, written by bestselling author Michelle Heard, is a juicy and twisted romance novel published on April 26, 2021. The novel takes readers on a wild ride of passion, betrayal, and revenge wrapped in a gripping storyline.

Set in New York, the novel revolves around two main characters, Julian and Ivy. Julian is the CEO of a successful company, ruthless and unapologetic in his business dealings.

Ivy is a powerful woman, the daughter of the mayor, with a dark past and a mysterious present. The two of them have a history – a passionate romantic relationship that turned sour, and a deal gone wrong that left them both hurt and betrayed.

The novel’s plot takes off when Julian and Ivy cross paths again, this time with a dangerous proposition. Julian seeks Ivy’s help in destroying his enemy in exchange for a favor, a business deal that can make or break Ivy’s future.

As they delve deeper into their plan, they find themselves rekindling their romance and igniting their old desires. One of the strengths of Merciless Saints is Heard’s excellent character development.

Julian and Ivy are both complex characters with layers of depth that readers will uncover as the plot unfolds. Julian’s quiet intensity and Ivy’s tough exterior are compelling contrasts that keep readers rooting for them.

The novel’s pacing is also worth mentioning, the plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats, and the twists and turns are cleverly executed. The writing style in Merciless Saints is lush and evocative, and Heard creates a vivid world of power, money, and hedonism.

The themes explored in the novel include redemption, revenge, forgiveness, and the high price of success. The novel also tackles social issues such as institutionalized racism and the corrupt power dynamics of the elite.

However, the novel has some flaws. While Merciless Saints offers a thrilling ride, some parts of the plot feel predictable and clichéd.

Furthermore, some of the secondary characters are not fleshed out enough, and the story would have benefitted from deeper explorations of their backstories. Overall, Merciless Saints is a gripping romantic thriller that fans of the genre will enjoy.

While it does have some flaws and limitations, Heard has crafted an engrossing story with well-developed characters, gorgeous writing, and a compelling plot. Therefore, I recommend Merciless Saints to anyone looking for a steamy romance novel that packs a punch.
