Editoral Review

My Fake Fianc by Odette Stone is a delightful and heartwarming romantic novel that offers an escape from the grind of everyday life. Published on June 16, 2018, Stone’s novel offers a fresh take on the fake relationship trope, taking the reader on a journey of self-discovery and forgiveness.

Set in modern-day New York, the novel introduces readers to the two main characters, Tessa and Cole, who are both struggling to make ends meet. Tessa, a struggling actress, is desperate for a role that will resurrect her career while Cole is a successful businessman with a stake in his family’s company.

After a chance meeting, the two partners agree to enter into a fake engagement for their mutual benefit. One of the book’s strengths is Stone’s ability to create a compelling and exciting premise that draws readers in.

The pacing is excellent, with just the right amount of backstory and character development effortlessly woven into the story. The book’s central conflict, Tessa’s dream of becoming a successful actress and Cole’s obligation to support his family’s business, is interesting and well-executed, and the well-drawn characters make the emotional stakes high.

Another strength of the writing is its humor. The witty banter between Tessa and Cole is delightful, and their constant flirting adds a charming element to the novel.

The romantic moments are steamy and well-written, and the novel’s light tone makes it easy to read and enjoyable. However, the book does have its weaknesses.

Some of the secondary characters feel underdeveloped, and the plot can be predictable at times. Stone’s writing style is easy to read, but the result is sometimes generic and lacks originality.

The book’s predictability might be a turn off to readers who prefer more twists and turns in their novels. Despite its limitations, My Fake Fianc is a delightful novel that readers of the romance genre would enjoy.

Stone’s writing is well-crafted, and her characters are compelling enough to keep readers invested. It’s a light read that offers a reprieve from the stress of daily life.

I recommend this book to romance readers looking for a heartwarming read. I give the book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
