About the Author

Demelza Carlton, a bestselling author in the USA, has always had a fondness for the ocean. However, during her initial snorkelling expedition, she discovered her fear of fish.

Despite this, she has gone on to swim with various sea creatures such as sea lions, sharks, and sea cucumbers. She has even stood on cliffs, drenched by the sea spray, while a massive cyclonic swell raged below, demolishing a shipwreck.

While some may think this is an exaggeration, Demelza carries a camera with her to document and share these moments, including the shipwrecks and sharks. She currently resides in Perth, Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world.

Demelza’s first literary venture was the Ocean’s Gift series, followed by the Nightmares trilogy. The Mel Goes to Hell series came to her unexpectedly during a crowded train ride and refused to leave her thoughts.

Editoral Review

In “Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer,” Australian author Demelza Carlton delves into the gritty, dark world of psychological thrillers. First published on July 29, 2013, this novel explores themes of trauma, grief, and resilience, immersing readers in a dizzying journey that will leave them gasping for air.

The story centers around Caitlin Lockyer, a young woman who has been kidnapped and held captive by a sadistic predator. After months of unspeakable horrors, Caitlin manages to escape, but she can never forget the nightmare that has consumed her life.

Driven by a fierce desire for revenge, Caitlin embarks on a dangerous journey to find her captor and make him pay for his crimes. Along the way, she must come to terms with her own demons and confront the pain that has turned her into a haunted shell of her former self.

Carlton’s writing is visceral and evocative, painting a vivid picture of Caitlin’s world and the horrors she has experienced. The author weaves a complex web of characters and motives, leaving readers guessing until the very end.

The pacing is relentless, with each chapter ratcheting up the tension and propelling the story forward. Despite its dark subject matter, “Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer” also has moments of tenderness and hope.

Carlton is a skilled writer, able to balance the raw emotions of the story with moments of beauty and grace. Her characters are fully realized, with depth and complexity that makes them feel like real people rather than mere plot devices.

One potential criticism of “Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer” is that it is not for the faint of heart. The book contains graphic descriptions of violence and sexual assault, which may be triggering for some readers.

However, these scenes are never gratuitous or exploitative; Carlton handles them with sensitivity and nuance. Overall, “Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer” is a gripping, intense novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope. I highly recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers and suspenseful dramas.
