About the Author

Brian D. Anderson is a well-known independent author who gained immense popularity during the 2010-2012 indie explosion.

He made a grand entrance with his debut series, The Godling Chronicles, and continued to dazzle his fans with his follow-up series, Dragonvein. The first book in this series was a finalist for Fantasy Book of the Year on Audible.com, making Anderson the first independent author to reach the finals.

However, Anderson did not stop there. He co-authored Akiri with Steven Savile, who has written books for Warhammer, Pathfinder, Dr. Who, and Sherlock Holmes.

Anderson became the first independent author to secure a six-figure audio-only deal for his highly anticipated two-book sequel to The Godling Chronicles. Anderson then continued his indie career with The Vale series, but he still felt there was more to accomplish.

As a result, he secured a three-book deal with Tor Books for The Sorcerer’s Song series. When he is not writing, Anderson spends his time with his friends and family in his hometown of Fairhope, Alabama.

He is also an avid biker and enjoys traveling the country from convention to convention on his Harley Davidson, which he affectionately calls The Mighty Puck. He loves meeting his fans and signing books.

Editoral Review

Of Gods and Elves, written by Brian D. Anderson and first published on November 1, 2012, is an epic fantasy novel that takes readers on a thrilling journey through a world of magic, gods, and mythical creatures.

Anderson is an experienced author of fantasy fiction, having written several successful series in the genre, including The Godling Chronicles and Dragonvein.

The novel is set in the land of Aersadore, a world where humans, elves, and gods coexist, but not always peacefully. The story follows the journey of two unlikely heroes, an elven wizard named Joram and a human warrior named Baracus, as they embark on a perilous quest to save their land from destruction.

Along the way, they encounter a cast of intriguing characters, including gods, dragons, and other magical beings, and face numerous challenges and obstacles that test their courage and strength.

One of the strengths of Of Gods and Elves is its vivid and imaginative world-building. Anderson has created a complex and detailed universe, complete with its own mythology, history, and geography.

The descriptions of the various creatures and landscapes are rich and immersive, transporting the reader to a world that is both fantastical and believable.

The characters in the novel are also well-developed and engaging. Joram and Baracus make for a compelling duo, with their contrasting personalities and backgrounds adding depth and complexity to the story.

The other characters, including the gods and dragons, are equally fascinating and well-realized, each with their own motivations and agendas.

The pacing of the novel is generally good, with enough action and suspense to keep the reader engaged throughout. However, there are some slow moments in the story, particularly in the middle section, that could have been tightened up to create a more streamlined narrative.

One of the major themes of the novel is the conflict between different races and cultures, and the need for cooperation and understanding to overcome these differences. This is a timely and relevant message that resonates with current events and issues, and adds a layer of depth and meaning to the story.

Overall, Of Gods and Elves is an enjoyable and well-crafted fantasy novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. While it has some flaws and limitations, particularly in terms of pacing, the strengths of the book more than make up for these shortcomings.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy adventures with rich world-building and engaging characters.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
