About the Author

As a child, I had a fascination with witches and used to write spells with rats’ tails and bats’ wings. Later, I began keeping a diary, which became the basis for my Diving In trilogy.

Although I never aspired to be a writer, I was always drawn to books and writing. My English skills were far better than any other subject at school, leading me to pursue two degrees in English and American Literature at Kent University.

It was there that I fell deeply in love with my now-husband, with whom I continue to share a wonderful life.

My first job was as a copy-editor at Time Life Books, which made me feel quite glamorous. During my lunch break, I would attend aerobics classes at the YMCA and then struggle to stay awake in the afternoon.

After having two children, I began working as a freelance copy-editor from home. When I was given teenage books to edit, I was disappointed with how they portrayed sexual relationships.

I decided to try my hand at writing, and I was immediately hooked. It was like nothing else mattered.

A year later, Diving In was published.

When I ran out of content from my diaries and memories, I started eavesdropping on my teenage children, who were very tolerant of my nosiness.

Recently, my children moved out for good, and my husband began working from home more often. We sold our home and relocated to Wiltshire, where I am enjoying the space, silence, and nature.

The beauty and power of nature are central to my writing, and I am currently working on two books about a city girl who is thrust into the wilds.

Although I adore London, I plan to visit only every couple of weeks to see old friends and possibly attend the theatre. I also hope to travel more, offsetting my carbon footprint with a sizable compost heap.

My daily routine is quite cushy. I start with a run or walk with my dog, during which I contemplate what will happen next in my book.

Then I enjoy a substantial breakfast and get to work on my laptop, with my dog at my feet. If the weather is sunny, I write outside on a sun-lounger.

I firmly believe that you can’t be truly creative for more than three or four hours a day, so I usually stop early afternoon and attend to my emails and other tasks.

Editoral Review

Possessed by Kate Cann is a gripping young adult novel that was first published on July 7, 2008. Kate Cann is a British author who has written several books for young adults.

Her writing style is known for its dark and intense themes that captivate the reader from start to finish. Possessed is a novel that explores the complexities of teenage love and obsession, and the dangerous consequences that can arise from it.

The story is set in a small village in the UK and follows the life of 16-year-old Rayne, a troubled teenager who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her mother. Rayne’s life takes a dramatic turn when she falls in love with a mysterious and handsome stranger named Tom.

As their relationship intensifies, Rayne begins to realize that Tom is not who he seems to be. She soon finds herself caught up in a web of lies and deceit, and she must fight to save herself and her loved ones from the evil that has possessed Tom.

Possessed is a well-crafted novel that explores themes of love, obsession, and possession. Kate Cann’s writing style is engaging and immersive, and she does an excellent job of creating a sense of tension and suspense throughout the novel.

The characters are well-developed, and the reader is able to empathize with Rayne as she struggles to come to terms with her feelings for Tom.

One of the strengths of Possessed is its pacing. The novel moves at a steady pace, and the plot unfolds in a way that keeps the reader engaged and interested.

The tension builds gradually, and the climax is both thrilling and satisfying. The novel also has a strong sense of place, and the small village setting adds to the overall atmosphere of the story.

However, there are some weaknesses in the novel. The plot is somewhat predictable, and some of the twists and turns are telegraphed early on.

Additionally, some of the secondary characters are underdeveloped, and their motivations are not always clear.

Overall, Possessed is a well-crafted and engaging novel that is sure to appeal to fans of young adult fiction. It is a gripping and suspenseful story that explores the darker side of love and obsession.

While it is not without its flaws, it is a solid and entertaining read that is well worth checking out.
