Margaret Peterson Haddix’s Sabotaged is a thrilling addition to the author’s popular series, The Missing. Published on January 1, 2010, it offers an exceptional blend of science fiction, mystery, and adventure, making it a must-read for young adult readers.

The novel is the third installment of the series, and it follows the story of a group of kids who are time-traveling to correct historical events that have gone wrong.

The author, Margaret Peterson Haddix, is a prolific writer of children’s and young adult literature. She has written several award-winning novels, including The Shadow Children series and the Among the Hidden series.

Her writing style is easy to read, yet she manages to keep readers on the edge of their seats with her thrilling plots.

In Sabotaged, Haddix introduces us to the same group of kids we saw in the previous installments. Jonah, the main protagonist, and his friends are determined to fix a major historical event that has gone wrong.

They travel back in time to the year 1865, where they find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy to sabotage President Lincoln’s funeral train. The group must race against time to stop the conspirators and restore history to its rightful course.

The characters are skillfully crafted, and their personalities are distinct and relatable. Jonah, in particular, is a character that readers will find themselves rooting for throughout the story.

The setting is also well described, and readers will get a sense of the time and place that the characters find themselves in.

Haddix’s writing is engaging, and the plot is well-structured, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers engaged. The pacing is perfect, with just the right amount of action and suspense to keep the reader turning the pages.

Additionally, the novel is quite educational, as it offers insights into the history of the United States.

While Sabotaged is an enjoyable read, it does have a few limitations. Some readers may find the time-travel aspect of the story to be confusing, and others may find the number of characters overwhelming.

However, these issues do not detract from the overall enjoyment of the novel.

In conclusion, Sabotaged by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a well-written and thrilling addition to the author’s popular series, The Missing. It offers an excellent blend of science fiction, mystery, and adventure, making it an enjoyable read for young adult readers.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys time-travel stories, mystery novels, or science fiction. I give it a rating of four stars out of five.
