Overview

My parents sold me off to the Illuminati when my powers surfaced during puberty. I was trained to be a deadly assassin, spy, and thief, but little did I know that I was serving the Dark instead of the Light.

It wasn’t until I was sent to steal a magical artifact that reveals the truth that I realized the Illuminati’s true intentions. Their deception cost them dearly, and I paid the price for their lies.

After traveling thousands of miles away, I found a job at a quirky little bar, hoping to leave my past behind. But the Illuminati’s remnants are still lurking, seeking to control the world.

And everyone knows that no one leaves the Illuminati alive.

About the Author

I have had an interesting journey so far, with a diverse range of experiences. For almost ten years, I crafted silver and turquoise jewelry before pursuing a career in nursing.

Later, I obtained a master’s degree in business. Along the way, I also worked in various fields such as construction, newspaper editing, teaching, and eventually, found my calling working with computers.

Apart from work, I have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, particularly the stunning Rocky Mountains. I have been an avid skier since high school, albeit with a couple of injuries to show for it.

I have also enjoyed hiking and camping all my life. Although I love traveling, I feel I haven’t done enough of it yet.

I have been fortunate enough to explore parts of Russia and Mexico, but I still long to visit England and witness the beauty of Banff.

Book Review: Shadow Hunter by B.R. Kingsolver

B.R. Kingsolver’s Shadow Hunter is a thrilling new addition to the fantasy genre, with a fresh take on supernatural themes and characters. Published in April 2019, the book has quickly gained a dedicated following for its engaging plot, richly drawn world-building, and memorable cast of characters.

The author, B.R. Kingsolver, has established herself as a master storyteller with a talent for crafting fascinating, multi-dimensional characters that evolve and grow throughout the course of their journeys. Her previous novels have been praised for their gripping, fast-paced storytelling and thoughtful explorations of social issues and political intrigue.

Set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world, Shadow Hunter follows the journey of Kira, a powerful witch who is sent on a dangerous mission. Kira must navigate a treacherous landscape of rival factions, hidden dangers, and personal demons as she fights to complete her mission and protect those she loves.

Kingsolver’s prose is immersive and evocative, transporting readers to a vividly imagined world where magic and technology coexist in unexpected ways. The characters are complex and well-drawn, each with their own unique backstory and motivations.

Kira is a particularly compelling protagonist, with a fierce determination and a vulnerability that make her instantly relatable. The themes of shadow hunter are both timeless and relevant, exploring the age-old struggle between power and sacrifice, love and duty.

Kingsolver’s deft handling of these themes adds depth and complexity to the story, elevating it beyond mere escapist fiction. However, Shadow Hunter is not without its flaws.

At times, the pacing can feel a little slow, with certain scenes or subplots dragging on for longer than necessary. Additionally, some of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped, with their motivations and actions not always fully explained or explored.

Despite these issues, Shadow Hunter is a stunning achievement that will appeal to fans of fantasy, adventure, and dystopian fiction. Kingsolver’s writing is sure to transport readers to a world that is both thrilling and thought-provoking, while her characters will stay with them long after the final page has been turned.
