Overview

“I go by the name of Rylee and I am the best Tracker in the business. When children disappear and the authorities are powerless, I am the one they turn to.

I am their only hope of finding the lost ones. But when O’Shea goes missing, tracking him down becomes more challenging than I anticipated.

As if that isn’t enough, I am being relentlessly pursued by the Beast of Bodmin Moor, a dangerous game with my life on the line. However, the greatest threat may be the secrets that are unravelling, secrets that are better left buried in the dark.”

About the Author

I come from a family of Star Wars enthusiasts and have lost track of my many siblings. As a youngster, I was often subjected to Star Wars marathons, and I pay homage to those memories in my writing.

I write to keep the magic alive and to believe in the existence of mythical creatures like fairies, unicorns, and dragons, although I have yet to see one.

My husband is my anchor, and our son is our world. We live on a farm and have many tales of wrestling with cows, birthing calves, and chasing after escaped livestock.

In my spare time, I enjoy archery and baking, but the latter is challenging with two boys in the house.

As for what’s next for me, more stories are brewing in my head, and I am always ready for new adventures. I tend to leap before I look, and I believe in dreaming big and letting those dreams carry me on their wings.

Editoral Review

Shadowed Threads by Shannon Mayer is a captivating urban fantasy novel that was first published on August 15, 2013. Mayer is an American author who is best known for her urban fantasy, epic and paranormal romance novels.

She has authored several bestselling series such as “Rylee Adamson,” “Priceless,” and “The Venom Trilogy.” In this novel, Mayer weaves a tale of sorcery, vengeance, and love that will keep readers at the edge of their seats. The story is set in a world where supernatural beings such as witches, werewolves, vampires, and demons live among humans, albeit hiding in plain sight.

The main character, Eisley Barrett, is a black witch who inherited her powers from her mother. Eisley is tasked with leading her coven in a war against a powerful demon who killed her mother.

Along the way, she works with her ex-lover, Liam Quinn, who is a werewolf, and a powerful vampire, Lucas. As they battle against the demon, they face various obstacles that test their loyalty, bravery, and trust in one another.

What makes this novel stand out is Mayer’s masterful use of imagery and language to capture the essence of her characters and the world they inhabit. She fuses elements of the supernatural with contemporary settings, creating a world that is both fascinating and familiar.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, and readers will find themselves rooting for Eisley, Liam, and Lucas as they navigate their way through the challenges they face. One of the book’s strengths is its pacing.

The story moves swiftly, with each chapter ending on a cliffhanger that leaves readers hungry for more. The plot structure is tight, and the conflicts are well-defined, making it easy for the reader to follow along.

Moreover, Mayer’s smooth prose and vivid descriptions of action scenes create a cinematic experience that keeps the reader engaged. However, the novel may not be suitable for readers who are looking for a traditional urban fantasy story.

The magic system is not fully explained, and some aspects of the world-building are not explored in-depth. Additionally, some of the characters’ actions and motivations may feel rushed or underdeveloped.

Overall, Shadowed Threads is a thrilling read that is perfect for fans of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. It delivers on its promises with an action-packed storyline, well-crafted characters, and an imaginative world.

Thus, this book stands high among its readers who enjoy adventurous stories that keep them entertained and intrigued throughout.
