Editoral Review

Sophie Kinsella, famous for her Shopaholic series, released a delightful novella, Shopaholic on Honeymoon, on December 10, 2014. As a contemporary romance novel, it combines humor and wit with the thrill of traveling to faraway destinations on a tropical honeymoon.

Kinsella skillfully uses her signature writing style to pack punchy New York humor into a romantic comedy tale. The story follows Becky Bloomwood, the protagonist of the series, and her husband Luke Brandon as they embark on their honeymoon in the sun-kissed island of Seychelles.

However, the catch is that Becky can’t resist shopping in the markets and boutiques, even when she knows its not the most practical way to spend their honeymoon. She ends up getting into her usual debt trouble and hilariously goes to great lengths to hide her purchases from her husband while enjoying her tropical vacation.

While the main plot revolves around the honeymoon and the couple’s adventures, Kinsella also explores themes like the importance of communication and honesty in relationships. The setting of the exotic Seychelles island creates a refreshing change from the bustling city life that the Shopaholic series is characterized by.

Kinsella remains consistent in her writing style with clever phrasing and amusing anecdotes throughout Shopaholic on Honeymoon. Her character development is commendable as she brings an entertaining balance between the quirky and relatable sides of Becky.

Kinsella’s light-hearted touch to the romantic genre is a breath of fresh air that keeps the story engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. However, this novella falls short when it comes to plot development, which is understandable given the brief nature of the book.

The story is less complex than previous novels in the series, but Kinsella manages to pack in plenty of wit and humor to make up for it. Overall, this irresistible rom-com is a quick and charming read, perfect for a cozy afternoon at home.

Fans of the Shopaholic series and readers who love light romantic reads will not be disappointed. Its a fun and lighthearted addition to the series, and even though its short, it’s an excellent way to experience the joyous world of Becky Bloomwood once again.

For the target audience of fans of the Shopaholic series and readers of romance novels, Shopaholic on Honeymoon is a must-read. Its a delightful addition to Kinsella’s acclaimed body of work, and readers will find it a charming and entertaining escape.

I give this book a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars for its clever writing style, amusing characters, and playful humor.
