Editoral Review

Annette Maries Steel & Stone Companion Collection is a follow-up to her popular urban fantasy series, Steel & Stone, which first hit the shelves back in 2016. With the Companion Collection, readers get an opportunity to revisit the captivating world of Ash and her clan of supernatural creatures, who once again find themselves embroiled in a host of dangerous intrigues and intense adventures.

Maries writing style is engaging, seasoned with plenty of action, suspense, and romance that will leave readers on the edge of their seats. From the first chapter to the last, readers are treated to a plethora of magical abilities and intricate worlds filled with mythical creatures that will leave them clamoring for more.

The author does not shy away from examining the dark and sinister aspects of her imaginary world, raising thought-provoking questions about the nature of power, betrayal, and friendship. The Steel & Stone Companion Collection picks up from where the main series left off, featuring novellas and short stories that explore the different facets of the series beloved characters in greater detail.

The collection also sheds light on the backstories of some of the lesser-known characters, revealing the truth behind their motivations and actions.

The Companion Collection is a fascinating addition to the series that will appeal to fans of the Steel & Stone series, as well as those who are new to the world of urban fantasy.

Marie does an excellent job of maintaining the same level of excitement and intrigue that we have come to expect from her writing, and each novella is written in such a way that it is both enjoyable as a standalone read or when combined with the other works in the series. One of the great strengths of the Steel & Stone Companion Collection is its memorable cast of characters.

Ash, the main protagonist, continues to be a relatable and compelling character whom readers cant help but root for. Her development over the course of the series and the Companion Collection is nothing short of remarkable.

Each of the supporting characters is equally well-drawn, with their own unique personalities and quirks. The collection isn’t perfect, however.

One of its flaws is that some of the novellas can feel slightly repetitive in themes and storylines. Also, the few inconsistencies in the plot may leave some readers slightly confused.

Nevertheless, the Steel & Stone Companion Collection deserves high praise. With her vivid, engaging world-building, Marie is a master at crafting well-rounded, multi-dimensional characters, and creating an immersive supernatural universe that readers will find themselves lost in.

Overall, the Steel & Stone Companion Collection is a riveting read that fans of the genre will enjoy, and a great introduction to those new to Marie’s work. Readers should be prepared to be blown away by the stunning imagery and vivid descriptions, and fall in love with the detailed and well-developed characters that Marie has invested so much time in creating.

This compilation is a beautiful way to experience another dose of the extraordinary world of Steel and Stone and has an overall rating of 4.5/5.
