About the Author

Eileen Wilks is an accomplished author with an impressive track record. Her very first book, a Silhouette Desire publication back in 1996, was so successful that it made it to the USA Today Bestseller List and was even nominated for the Romantic Times’ Best First Short Contemporary award.

Since then, her books have consistently appeared on national bestseller lists, with thirty-two books in print and novellas in nine anthologies. She has been a finalist three times in the prestigious Rita Awards, and Romantic Times has nominated her several times, including once for Career Achievement in Series Romantic Suspense.

Her World of the Lupi series has a growing following, with each book attracting a larger audience. Initially sold in the Romance section of bookstores, it’s becoming increasingly common to find copies cross-shelved under Sci-Fi and Fantasy as the series’ popularity grows.

Eileen has lived in Midland, TX, for over 30 years, with three of those years spent as a young teenager and the rest as an adult. When she began writing over 10 years ago, it hit her like the first drink for an alcoholic or the first kiss for Romeo and Juliet.

Eileen came to writing romance in a roundabout way. She had been an avid science fiction reader for years and began writing in that genre when the writing bug bit her.

However, her stories always ended up with a strong romantic subplot. Even though she hadn’t read a romance novel since the early 80s and didn’t think they were her type of story, a friend in her critique group who was working on a romance novel convinced her to give the genre another try.

Eileen asked her friend to recommend some titles, and before she knew it, she had fallen in love with the genre. These days, with over 50% of mass-market books published in the US being romances, there are romances to suit almost every taste, from historicals, paranormals, and contemporaries to romantic suspense, romantic comedy, inspirational, and sizzling.

Eileen has lived in Canada and Venezuela, as well as twelve different cities in five states, before finally coming home to Midland.

Editoral Review

Eileen Wilks Tempting Danger is a captivating paranormal romance novel, published in 2004, that will immerse readers into a world of werewolves, magic, and adventure. With intricate world-building and well-rounded characters, Wilks novel is a standout in the genre.

The story focuses on Lily Yu, a detective in San Diegos police department, who is investigating a series of gruesome murders that leads her to the werewolf community. When she meets Rule Turner, the prince of the werewolves, sparks fly as they work together to solve the case.

However, Lily must navigate the complex politics of the werewolf hierarchy and the danger that comes with it. As the investigation progresses, Lily and Rules attraction for each other grows, forcing them to confront their own preconceptions about love and the consequences of their actions.

The novel is beautifully written, with Wilks prose weaving a rich tapestry of werewolf lore and romance. The characters are complex and intriguing, with Lily and Rules perspectives giving the reader a well-rounded understanding of the werewolf world.

From the mundane to the fantastical, Wilks descriptions are vivid, creating a detailed setting that readers will find themselves losing themselves in. One of the strengths of the novel is the way it presents werewolves as a community with their own culture and politics.

The world-building is intricate yet not overwhelming, with Wilks hints of other supernatural beings adding depth to the story. Additionally, the central themes of accepting others and love in unexpected places resonate with readers, creating a relatable foundation for the fantastical elements.

However, the pacing of the story can be slow at times, with the murder case taking a backseat to the burgeoning romance between Lily and Rule. While the romance is integral to the story, it can sometimes overshadow the investigation and conflict at the heart of the novel.

Additionally, the characters growth and self-discovery could be further developed to add more depth to the interpersonal relationships. Overall, Tempting Danger is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance, with its impressive world-building, intriguing characters, and heartwarming romance.

Eileen Wilks novel is perfect for those looking to get lost in a fantastical world full of adventure and love. The book receives a rating of 4 out of 5 stars, with its captivating characters and intricate world-building being its major strengths.
