About the Author

When Brent Weeks was just 12 years old, he found himself in a small Montana school where he discovered his two greatest passions. The first was literature, thanks to the works of Edgar Allan Poe, which showed him the incredible power of words to transcend time, death, and loneliness.

The second was a girl named Kristi Barnes, who captured his heart from the moment he met her.

Although Brent pursued both his love of literature and his love for Kristi, he initially failed at the latter. However, he persevered and ultimately found great success with the former.

Skipping over the less exciting parts, Brent has since written eight best-selling novels, including the Night Angel Trilogy and the Lightbringer Series. He’s also won numerous industry awards and sold millions of books.

Today, Brent lives in Oregon with his wife Kristi and their two daughters, proving that fate can sometimes work out in our favor.

Editoral Review

Brent Weeks’ The Blinding Knife is a masterful addition to the epic fantasy genre. This novel follows the events of the first book in the Lightbringer series, The Black Prism, and continues to captivate readers with its complex plot, dynamic characters, and stunning worldbuilding.

Weeks’ writing style is smooth and engaging, drawing readers in with a well-paced narrative and vivid imagery. This book is a true page-turner, with its twists and turns leaving readers desperate to know what happens next.

The world of the Lightbringer series is a rich and fascinating one, full of magic, political intrigue, and complex relationships between characters. The Blinding Knife follows the story of Kip and Gavin, two characters with intertwining fates who are forced to navigate a dangerous world full of enemies and secrets.

Kip, the bastard son of Gavin’s mentor, is struggling to find his place in the world as he grapples with his own magical abilities. Gavin, meanwhile, is determined to uncover the truth about a corrupt empire while battling against his own internal demons.

One of the strengths of The Blinding Knife is its realistic and fully realized characters. Weeks masterfully writes characters who are flawed and nuanced, making them all the more relatable and interesting.

Kip, in particular, is a character who readers will find themselves rooting for as he learns to harness his own powers and forge his own path in spite of his tumultuous past. Weeks also presents thought-provoking themes in The Blinding Knife, such as the corrupting influence of power and the importance of trust and loyalty in relationships.

These themes are woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding depth and complexity to the story. While The Blinding Knife is undoubtedly a well-crafted and enjoyable read, it does have some flaws.

The book’s pacing can be slow at times, with certain sections feeling drawn-out or unnecessary. Additionally, some readers may find that the book’s large cast of characters and intricate plot can be overwhelming.

Overall, The Blinding Knife is a fantastic addition to the Lightbringer series and is sure to satisfy fans of the epic fantasy genre. It is a must-read for anyone who enjoys richly detailed worldbuilding, complex characters, and magical adventure.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars.
