About the Author

Back in 1822, Jakob Ludwig Karl Grimm, a German philologist and folklorist, came up with Grimm’s Law, which has since been the foundation for much of modern comparative linguistics. Along with his brother Wilhelm Karl Grimm, he compiled a collection of Germanic folk tales, which were published as Grimm’s Fairy Tales between 1812 and 1815.

Grimm’s Law describes how Indo-European stop consonants changed in Germanic languages. For instance, Indo-European “p” became “f” in Germanic, “t” became “th,” and “k” became “h.” Grimm’s Law also explains how “b,” “d,” and “g” became “p,” “t,” and “k” respectively in the Germanic languages.

Besides, Jakob Ludwig Karl Grimm was also a mythologist and a jurist who wrote a monumental work on German law and his memoirs.

Editoral Review

The Complete Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales, first published on December 20, 1812, is a collection of fairy tales that has captivated audiences for centuries since its inception. The book was authored by Jacob Grimm, one of the famous Grimm Brothers known for their collections of German folklore and fairy tales.

The Brothers Grimm is a household name synonymous with fairy tales; they have given us some of the most famous stories like Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel.

This edition of the book brings together all of the fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm, and what makes it unique is that it presents the tales in their original form, which were harsher and darker than the more sanitized versions that frequently surface in modern media.

The stories are presented without alteration or editing, the way they were intended to be read, and the reader gets to experience the full effect of the underlying messages conveyed. The Complete Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales is a collection of over 200 stories that include tales about kings and princes, witches and dwarfs, and talking animals.

The tales take place in a variety of settings ranging from forests to castles and are populated with a wealth of characters, from noble heroes to malevolent villains. Each of the tales teaches valuable life lessons while entertaining readers with their gripping narratives.

The Brothers Grimm’s Fairy Tales have stood the test of time and continue to be popular among readers of all ages. The fairy tales have more than just historical value but also cultural significance.

The tales have been interpreted in various forms across different cultures, be it movies, plays, or operas. The appeal of the stories lies in how they resonate with universal themes, such as love, greed, loyalty, and courage.

The book’s strength lies in its ability to capture the reader’s imagination and transport them to magical, far-off lands. The stories are well-crafted, creatively imagined, and intelligently woven.

The characters are multidimensional and well-developed, and the pacing and plot structure are excellent. The book offers a vast array of life lessons applicable to all ages, and the stories’ morality provides an ethical framework for readers to live by.

However, some of the tales may contain controversial themes or depict certain events that may not sit well with some readers, especially with the current social norms. While reading, it is essential to keep in mind that these tales were written in a different time and cultural context, and some of the themes may not necessarily align with modern sensibilities.

The Complete Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales is a must-read for anyone who loves fairy tales, history, and classic literature. The book is engaging, educating, and entertaining, and the lessons within the stories are still relevant today.
