About the Author
Gilbert Keith Chesterton was a multi-talented English writer, philosopher, theologian, and critic. He was educated at St. Paul’s and attended art school at University College London.
In 1900, he was approached to write a few articles on art criticism for a magazine, which propelled him into becoming one of the most prolific writers of all time. Chesterton authored an impressive 100 books, contributed to 200 more, crafted hundreds of poems (including an epic), wrote five plays, penned five novels, and created around 200 short stories – including a well-received series starring the priest-detective, Father Brown.
Despite his many literary achievements, Chesterton primarily viewed himself as a journalist. He wrote an astonishing 4000 newspaper essays, including weekly columns for the Illustrated London News for 30 years and the Daily News for 13 years.
Additionally, he even edited his own newspaper, G.K.’s Weekly. Chesterton was comfortable writing about a wide range of topics, including literary and social criticism, history, politics, economics, philosophy, and theology.
