About the Author

Karen Marie Moning, a #1 New York Times bestselling author, once said that her only other calling was to be the captain of her own starship. Although she was born in the wrong century and couldn’t fulfill that dream, she found another way to explore the universe: writing fiction.

For Moning, books are doors to endless adventure.

Moning attended Purdue University at the age of 17, where she completed a BA in Society & Law with minors in Philosophy, Creative Writing, and Theatre while working full-time as a bartender and computer consultant. Initially, she planned to go to law school but changed her mind after interning with a firm of criminal attorneys.

For the next 10 years, she worked in insurance, writing intercompany arbitrations and directing commercial litigation. But at the age of 30, she decided to pursue her passion and become a fiction novelist.

In 1999, Moning published Beyond the Highland Mist, which was nominated for two RITA awards. She followed that up with six more novels in her award-winning Highlander series and received the RITA Award in 2001 for The Highlander’s Touch.

In 2004, she began writing the #1 New York Times bestselling FEVER series, which has been optioned twice for potential franchise development by Twentieth Century Fox and DreamWorks Studios. However, Moning currently holds the rights and hopes to see it become a television series someday.

Her novels have been published in over thirty countries.

Moning divides her time between Ohio and Florida and is currently working on two future projects for Random House Publishing. As Jorge Luis Borges once said, “I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”

Editoral Review

The Highlander’s Touch by Karen Marie Moning is a delightful addition to the historical romance genre. Moning is a New York Times bestselling author known for her sensational Highlander romance series.

Published on November 7, 2000, the book transports readers to the 16th century Scotland and tells the story of a woman named Adrienne de Simone who is thrown back in time through a mysterious stone circle and lands in the arms of a handsome and fierce Highland warrior named Hawk Mackenzie.

The book’s plot is intriguing, as it combines time travel, romance, and adventure. The main characters are well-developed, and their chemistry is palpable.

Adrienne is a strong and independent woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, while Hawk is a brave and loyal warrior who is fiercely protective of his clan. The setting of 16th century Scotland is vividly described, and readers can easily imagine the rugged landscape and harsh living conditions of the time.

Moning’s writing style is engaging, and she has a talent for crafting romantic scenes that will leave readers swooning. The book’s pacing is excellent, with just the right balance of action and romance.

Moning also weaves in historical and cultural elements that make the story more authentic and compelling.

One of the book’s strengths is its ability to transport readers to a different time and place while still addressing universal themes that are relevant today. The concept of time travel allows Moning to explore the idea of destiny and the power of love to transcend time and space.

The book also touches on themes of family, loyalty, and honor.

However, the book is not without its flaws. Some readers may find the plot predictable, and the dialogue can be cheesy at times.

The book also perpetuates some stereotypes of Highlanders as barbaric and uncivilized.

Overall, The Highlander’s Touch is a must-read for fans of historical romance and time travel stories. It is a well-crafted novel that will transport readers to a different time and place and leave them feeling emotionally satisfied.

I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
