Editoral Review

The Impossibility of Tomorrow by Avery Williams is a young adult novel published on June 4, 2013. Williams is an American author best known for writing popular YA novels that explore the themes of love, mortality, and destiny.

The novel, a sequel to The Alchemy of Forever, is a thrilling read that blends magic and science to create a unique narrative that grips the reader from the first page to the last. The novel follows the story of Seraphina, a girl who has been alive for over 600 years, thanks to alchemy.

Seraphina is finally reunited with her true love, Cyrus, after centuries of being apart. They travel to New York City, where they hope to find a cure for their immortality.

However, their journey is filled with danger, betrayal, and unexpected obstacles that make it a true test of their love and loyalty. The Impossibility of Tomorrow is a compelling read that explores the concept of eternal life and the longing for mortality.

Williams skilfully brings to life the characters of Seraphina and Cyrus, as well as the setting of New York City, making the reader feel transported to the vibrant and chaotic streets of the metropolis. The novel is a perfect blend of action, suspense, and romance that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.

The pacing is expertly done, with no dull moments or unnecessary scenes. The world-building is also excellently executed, showing the depth of Williams’ imagination and her ability to create a believable and compelling world.

One of the novel’s strengths is its exploration of the themes of love and mortality. Williams delves deep into what it means to be mortal and how the fear of death shapes our lives.

She also explores the idea of love beyond death and how it can conquer even the most impossible of obstacles. However, the novel’s biggest flaw is its lack of character development for some of the supporting characters.

While Seraphina and Cyrus are well-rounded and fully fleshed out, some of the secondary characters feel underdeveloped and two-dimensional. This can be seen as a missed opportunity for Williams to add more depth and complexity to the novel.

Overall, The Impossibility of Tomorrow is a gripping read that will appeal to young adults interested in fantasy and romance novels. The novel is expertly crafted, with a unique blend of magic and science that creates a fascinating world.

While it has some flaws, the strengths of the novel more than make up for them. I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a thrilling and thought-provoking young adult read.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
