Book Review: The Legend of the Blue Eyes by B. Kristin McMichael

The Legend of the Blue Eyes is the first book in the captivating Blue Eyes Trilogy written by B. Kristin McMichael.

Published on March 7, 2013, the book is a young adult paranormal romance that combines elements of supernatural fantasy, mystery, and adventure.

Set in a small town in Kentucky, the story follows the life of Arianna Grace, an ordinary high school student who suddenly discovers that she is a supernatural being with special powers. As the last surviving member of a powerful supernatural race called the Touched, Arianna becomes the target of dark forces that seek to eliminate her and claim her powers for their own evil purposes.

Along with her new friends, Arianna embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover the truth about her past and protect her future.

McMichael’s writing style is engaging and descriptive, drawing the reader into the world of the Touched and creating vivid imagery of the characters and settings. The pacing of the plot is well-balanced, with a perfect blend of action, suspense, and romance that keeps the reader hooked until the very end.

The characters in the book are well-developed and relatable, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. Arianna, the protagonist, is a strong-willed and determined heroine who learns to embrace her destiny and fight for what she believes in.

Her love interest, Chase, is a charming and protective hero who complements Arianna’s personality and adds depth to the story.

One of the strengths of the book is its exploration of themes such as identity, belonging, and self-discovery. Through Arianna’s journey of self-discovery, McMichael highlights the importance of accepting oneself and embracing one’s unique qualities.

However, one of the weaknesses of the book is its lack of originality in terms of plot and character archetypes. The story follows a similar formula to other young adult paranormal romance novels, and some of the characters’ actions and decisions feel predictable and clichéd.

Overall, The Legend of the Blue Eyes is an enjoyable and entertaining read that will appeal to fans of the young adult paranormal romance genre. McMichael’s storytelling skills and well-rounded characters make the book a page-turner, despite its familiar plot structure.

I would recommend this book to young adult readers who are looking for an engaging and easy-to-read novel that combines elements of fantasy, romance, and adventure. The Legend of the Blue Eyes is a great choice for anyone who enjoys books like Twilight or The Mortal Instruments series.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars. While the book has its strengths in terms of writing and character development, its lack of originality and predictable plot prevent it from reaching its full potential.
