Overview

Leisa has returned to her homeland of Farhall, but instead of being welcomed with open arms, she is met with suspicion and fear. She finds herself imprisoned by the man she once considered a father, who now sees her as a threat.

In order to escape, Leisa must abandon everything she once believed in and leave behind any hope of discovering the truth about her past. But leaving means betraying the trust of a man who saved her life.

Leisa has no choice but to flee with Kyrion, and seek refuge in the Kingdom of Shadows, home of the night elves. There, she must confront her growing feelings for Kyrion, her fear of her own power, and the hostility of a people on the brink of war.

As news of a dire situation in Farhall reaches them, Leisa and Kyrion must decide where their loyalties lie. Will they be able to find a path to peace that doesn’t require them to sacrifice their love for each other, or will they have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the kingdom they both love?

Editoral Review

The Unseen Heir, written by Kenley Davidson and published on January 5, 2021, is a captivating addition to the historical romance genre. Davidson is a talented author who has previously written other books in the genre, including the Andari Chronicles and The Reluctant Guardian series.

With The Unseen Heir, she brings a fresh perspective to the genre, creating a richly detailed world filled with intrigue, betrayal, and romance.

Set in a fictional medieval kingdom, the book tells the story of Lady Brianna, a strong-willed and intelligent young woman who is forced to marry a man she barely knows in order to secure her family’s position. However, Brianna is not content to simply be a pawn in the game of politics.

As she navigates the dangerous and treacherous court of King Edward, she discovers a hidden family secret that could change the course of her life and the fate of the kingdom.

One of the strengths of The Unseen Heir is Davidson’s ability to create complex and relatable characters. Brianna is a strong and determined protagonist who is not afraid to speak her mind and fight for what she believes in.

She is also vulnerable and flawed, which makes her all the more compelling. The other characters in the book are equally well-developed, with their own motivations and agendas that add depth and complexity to the story.

Another strength of the book is Davidson’s attention to detail. She creates a vivid and realistic medieval world, filled with court intrigue, political maneuvering, and vivid descriptions of clothing, food, and architecture.

The setting is richly described, making it easy for the reader to imagine themselves in the story.

However, the book does have some weaknesses. The pacing can be slow at times, with some parts of the story dragging on a bit too long.

Additionally, some of the plot twists and turns can be predictable, robbing the story of some of its suspense and surprise.

Despite these flaws, The Unseen Heir is a well-written and entertaining read. It will appeal to fans of historical romance and anyone who enjoys a good story filled with political intrigue and complex characters.

Davidson’s attention to detail and her ability to create a vivid and compelling world make this book a standout in the genre.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Unseen Heir to anyone looking for a well-written and engaging historical romance. While it may not be perfect, it is a thoroughly enjoyable read that will keep you hooked from beginning to end.

I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
