About the Author

Meet Robert Kirkman, an American comic book writer who has made a name for himself through his fantastic work on The Walking Dead, Invincible (published by Image Comics), and Marvel Zombies and Ultimate X-Men (published by Marvel Comics). He even teamed up with Todd McFarlane, co-founder of Image Comics, to create Haunt.

Interestingly, he is the only one among the five partners of Image Comics who wasn’t one of the original co-founders.

Robert Kirkman’s first comic books were self-published under his own label called Funk-o-Tron. He collaborated with his childhood friend Tony Moore to create the popular book Battle Pope, which was published in late 2001.

Battle Pope was a hit and ran for over two years, along with other Funk-o-Tron published books like InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert started working for another company, Image Comics, with a 4-part series called SuperPatriot, which he created along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert’s creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and, of course, The Walking Dead.
