Overview

“Looks can be deceiving, especially when it comes to weddings. While the bride and groom may seem picturesque, the rest of the wedding party is a different story.

Spoiled, entitled, and rich beyond imagination, they’re a nightmare to deal with. But Maid of Honor Franchesca is no pushover.

She’s determined to make this wedding a success, even if it means dealing with the Worst Best Man ever. With an attitude as big as his checkbook, he’s a challenge she’s ready to take on.

The Best Man has never met a woman he can tolerate for more than a couple of months, but Franchesca may just be the one to change his mind. Can she handle his arrogance and win his heart at the same time?

The Worst Best Man is a romantic comedy that will have you laughing, crying, and rooting for the underdog.”

Book Review: The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score

Lucy Score’s 2018 novel, The Worst Best Man, is a romantic comedy that explores themes of family, love, and forgiveness. Score is an established author in the romance genre, having published numerous bestsellers, and this book is no exception.

The Worst Best Man follows the story of Carolina Santos, a wedding planner who is left at the altar by her fiancĂ©, and Max Hartley, the best man who was responsible for the disaster. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, they are forced to work together when Carolina’s sister hires Max’s advertising agency to promote her wedding planning business.

As they spend more time together, their attraction grows, and they must navigate their own complicated histories and families to find happiness.

Score’s writing is witty and engaging, with well-developed characters and a fast-paced plot. The dialogue is sharp and realistic, and the chemistry between Carolina and Max is palpable.

The book also touches on important social issues such as immigration and cultural identity, adding depth to the story.

One of the strengths of the book is the way Score portrays the dynamics of family relationships. Carolina’s relationship with her father, who is a Brazilian immigrant, is particularly poignant, and Score does an excellent job of exploring the challenges of balancing cultural expectations and individual desires.

However, the book does have some flaws. The conflict between Carolina and Max feels somewhat contrived at times, and the resolution is a bit too neat.

Additionally, some of the secondary characters, such as Carolina’s sister and Max’s business partner, could have been better developed.

Overall, The Worst Best Man is an enjoyable read that will appeal to fans of the romantic comedy genre. It is well-written, engaging, and thought-provoking.

Score’s exploration of family dynamics and cultural identity adds depth to the story, and the chemistry between the main characters is electric. While it may not be perfect, it is a solid addition to Score’s body of work.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, entertaining read with some substance. It will appeal to fans of authors such as Christina Lauren and Helen Hoang.

I give The Worst Best Man a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
