Overview

“My name is Alex, and I’m a Tracker.” When supernatural beings go rogue and wreak havoc, the Council calls on me to track them down. I am their only hope in bringing these out-of-control creatures back to justice.

I salvage what others cannot. But as war looms on the horizon, I must put together a team of allies to stand by my side.

That means teaming up with a shifter who has a serious grudge against me. If I don’t make amends, I’ll be left on my own to face the consequences.

But I don’t make friends easily. And I always have a backup plan.

Sort of. Add in a new weapon that can neutralize any supernatural ability and I have more problems than I can handle.

Good thing I have a team of experts who have my back. Even if they are thousands of miles away.

About the Author

I was born into a family of Star Wars enthusiasts, with numerous siblings and regular movie marathons. My books often reference these films as a tribute to my upbringing.

I began writing because I refused to abandon my belief in magic and mythical creatures. Although I have yet to spot a fairy, unicorn, or dragon, I once tried to catch a leprechaun that a neighbor claimed to feed in their garden.

Unfortunately, my waiting efforts resulted in damaged flowers and a need for replacements.

I met my husband, who grounds me in reality, and we have a young son who is the center of our world. Living on a farm provides plenty of excitement, from wrestling with cows to assisting with calf births and even falling into creeks or mud.

Escaped livestock must also be chased down before they reach the highway. I am learning archery and aspire to practice horseback archery in the future.

I also enjoy baking, although it is difficult to keep treats stocked with two boys in the house.

My future plans include sharing more stories and embarking on new adventures. Whenever inspiration strikes, I am ready to take the leap.

I live by the motto of leaping before looking and letting my dreams guide me.

Editoral Review

Shannon Mayer’s debut novel Tracker is a thrilling addition to the urban fantasy genre. Mayer brings her unique voice and world-building skills to create an unforgettable tale full of action, suspense, and intrigue.

Published on March 6, 2014, this book has left readers on the edge of their seats while exploring themes of power, control, and redemption. In Tracker, we meet the fierce and independent heroine, Marnye Reed, who works as a bounty hunter in a world where supernatural creatures coexist with humans.

When a routine mission becomes a life-changing event, Marnye finds herself drawn into a web of dark secrets and dangerous conspiracies that threaten to tear her world apart. With the help of some unlikely allies and her own survival instincts, Marnye must navigate through this dangerous world to uncover the truth behind her father’s murder.

Mayer masterfully crafts a rich and vivid world filled with supernatural beings, each with their own unique powers and abilities. Her descriptions of the creatures and their habitats make for a captivating read that will leave readers fully immersed in the story.

Additionally, the pacing and structure of the plot are expertly executed, keeping readers engaged and eager to turn the page. Mayer also demonstrates her skill in character development through her protagonist, Marnye.

Throughout the story, readers witness Marnye evolve from a lone wolf bounty hunter to a team player who understands the importance of trust and loyalty. Her growth and development make her a relatable and likable character that readers will root for throughout the story.

Where Tracker could be improved is in the romance subplot, which at times feels forced and unnecessary. However, this does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story, especially when considering the exciting climax and resolution.

For those who enjoy urban fantasy and supernatural thrillers, Tracker is a must-read. Mayer’s writing and world-building make for an unforgettable and captivating experience.

Therefore, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an escape into a world of magic, action, and adventure. Rating: 4.5/5
