Editoral Review

Trust by Janet Dailey is a thrilling novel that explores the complexities of trust and betrayal in a small town in Texas. As a prolific author of over 100 novels in various genres, Dailey is no stranger to the romance genre, and Trust is no exception.

In Trust, Dailey expertly weaves together the desires and motivations of her characters, creating a tangled web of deceit, passion, and secrets. The story follows the lives of a group of friends who grew up together in the small town of Wolf Creek, Texas.

After years of being away, they are brought back together following the mysterious death of one of their own. What follows is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and loyalty as they all try to uncover the truth behind their friend’s death.

Dailey’s writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making Trust a quick and enjoyable read. The characters are well developed, with each having their unique personality and backstory that adds depth and complexity to the story.

Furthermore, the setting of the small town in Texas adds richness to the novel, making it relatable to readers who have experienced rural America. Despite the novel’s strengths, there were some weaknesses that detracted from the overall quality of Trust.

One such issue was the pacing of the novel, which felt slow at times, causing the story to drag. Additionally, the cliched stereotypes used in some of the characterizations, such as the wealthy businessman with a shady past, felt predictable and unoriginal.

However, Trust by Janet Dailey is still a highly recommended read for anyone who loves a good romance novel with a thrilling mystery twist. The novel’s exploration of trust, loyalty, and betrayal is a theme that is universal and relevant to current events.

Dailey’s extensive knowledge of the genre ensures that readers will enjoy the twists and turns in the story, and the clever way she created a balance between the romance and mystery aspects. Overall, Trust is an engaging and charming novel for those seeking a good old-fashioned romantic mystery, which I am rating with a solid three out of five.
