Overview

Maggie has always thought she knew what she wanted in life, but a mysterious and alluring vampire is about to shake up everything she thought she knew. He’s tall, dark, and dangerously handsome – with piercing blue eyes that seem to see straight through her.

As he draws closer, she’s simultaneously terrified and drawn to him in a way she’s never experienced before. Blade has always despised humans.

But when he catches the scent of the irresistible human woman who’s invaded his territory, he’s forced to reconsider his beliefs. Her fear smells of something deliciously tempting, and the closer he gets, the more he wants her.

Once he’s claimed her as his own, he won’t let her go. One thought echoes through his mind: MINE.

Before Maggie knows what’s happening, she’s in Blade’s embrace, swept up in a whirlwind of passion and danger. Now he just has to use every ounce of his strength and seduction to convince her to stay with him forever.

About the Author

I initially wrote a brief introduction about myself, but I received multiple requests to elaborate, so here it goes! I’m a full-time home supervisor, also known as a housewife. I’m happily married to my dream guy for 20 years, and we have four children.

I reside in Southern California, and iced coffee is a must-have to function. Romance is a belief of mine, and as a long-time daydreamer, I have always been an avid reader with a vast collection of books.

Surprisingly, I never knew that I wanted to become a writer. As a child, I devoured books and could finish entire series like Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, and The Borrowers in a matter of days.

By the time I was nine, I had an adult library card and visited often. As I grew older, I transitioned to reading genres like horror, mystery, and romance.

I loved reading so much that I began writing poetry and later progressed to writing short stories. My first book was born from reading a poorly written book that frustrated me with its lousy characters and shoddy plot.

I thought to myself that I could do better and decided to give it a try.

In the early 90s, I wrote my first book, which I doubt will ever see the light of day. I continued writing for fun and created several series.

I enjoy reading and writing series novels. In 2009, I took a chance and attempted to get published.

I wrote my first science-fiction romance, and it became Ral’s Woman. I submitted it to Ellorascave, and after a few tweaks, they sent me an acceptance letter.

It felt like a Cinderella story for me. It has been an amazing journey so far, and I’m thrilled that I now have the time to write full-time.

It’s like a dream come true.

Editoral Review

Valiant by Laurann Dohner is a steamy and exciting addition to the paranormal romance genre. First published on September 14, 2011, this novel follows the story of Ellie Brown, a curvy woman who has been abducted by alien slavers and sold to the Zorn warriors.

When she is purchased by Valiant, a fierce and imposing alien, Ellie must navigate a new world full of danger, betrayal, and undeniable passion. Dohner is an established romance author who has gained a following for her unique blend of sci-fi and romance.

In Valiant, she presents readers with a compelling narrative that plays on the popularized trope of the abductor and the abductee falling in love. However, Dohner’s writing avoids the cliches that so often weigh down the genre.

Instead, she focuses on Ellie and Valiant’s emotional journeys, delving into their innermost thoughts and desires. The worldbuilding in Valiant is commendable.

Dohner creates a complex society for the Zorn warriors, complete with rituals, politics, and a detailed history. The setting of the story is vividly described, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in this imaginative world.

Additionally, Dohner excels at writing realistic and relatable characters. Ellie, in particular, is a refreshing change from the typical heroines of the genre.

She is a complex and independent woman who refuses to be victimized by her situation. On the other hand, Valiant is a stoic and disciplined warrior who struggles to reconcile his duty to his people with his growing feelings for Ellie.

The chemistry between the two protagonists is palpable, and their love story is both steamy and tender. However, one of the book’s drawbacks is its predictability.

Fans of the abductor/abductee trope may be disappointed that the novel does not take many unexpected twists and turns. Additionally, the book’s pacing is uneven, with some sections dragging while others feel rushed.

Overall, Valiant is a solid addition to the paranormal romance genre. Dohner’s writing is immersive and captivating, and her characters are well-developed and engaging.

However, readers looking for a radical departure from the typical romance novel may be disappointed.

Recommended for fans of sci-fi romance and readers interested in stories about alien cultures.
