Overview

Caught in a wicked enchantment…

As a half-incubus, Gabriel Mac Braire has a reputation that precedes him, especially when it comes to his lethal and seductive dark magick. When he’s summoned to the Seelie Court, all eyes are on him, including those of Aislinn Finvarra.

Despite her bitter past, Aislinn is drawn to Gabriel’s mysterious allure, but she can’t ignore the rumors of his dangerous charms that have enslaved countless women before her.

When the Summer Queen orders Aislinn to be Gabriel’s guide in the court, she’s hesitant. She’s been under the spell of persuasive men before, and Gabriel might be more than he seems.

His true mission is far from innocent, and Aislinn must protect not only her heart but also her life. Will she succumb to his wicked enchantment, or will she be the one to break his spell?

About the Author

Anya Bast writes romantic fiction that’s mostly paranormal and always steamy. She lives in the countryside with her husband, daughter, eight cats, a dog, and a bunch of rescued animals.

Anya grew up in Minnesota and still loves cold weather. She moved to the southeastern US for college and sold her first book while in graduate school.

She decided to pursue writing instead of psychology.

Anya is somewhat of a homebody, but you can draw her out with a good bottle of red wine, classic movies, or great music. When she’s not writing, she’s trying to grow organic veggies, hunting for the perfect thrift store find, or dreaming about far-off lands.

Right now, Anya is working hard on a new series for Berkley Sensation while wrapping up her best-selling Elemental Witches quartet.

Editoral Review

Anya Bast’s Wicked Enchantment beautifully blends fantasy and romance in her modern-day take on fae mythology. Released in January 2010, the book offers a thrilling narrative that explores power dynamics, passion, and the lengths one will go to fulfill their desires.

Bast, a New York Times bestselling author, sets the book in the present day, drawing readers into a world where fae creatures live in secret alongside human beings. The story follows Riordan, the leader of the Dark Court who is dealing with the aftermath of a brutal attack on his kingdom.

Meanwhile, Genna, a half-fae, half-human bartender, gets pulled into the conflict when Riordan’s son appears at the bar where she works. Sparks fly as Riordan and Genna become entangled in a steamy romance.

Bast’s world-building is excellent, with intricate attention to detail that brings the otherworldly setting to life. The characters are well-drawn, and their motivations and desires are explored throughout the narrative.

Bast’s writing style is engaging and descriptive, making it easy to lose oneself in the story. One of the book’s highlights is its exploration of power dynamics between the fae and humans.

Bast delves into the ways in which the fae can manipulate and control human beings, through magic or simply their charm, highlighting the dangers of unchecked power. The book also explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and sacrifice, making for a well-rounded plot that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

While Wicked Enchantment is a fantastic read, it does have a few flaws. Some readers may find the plot predictable or the characters somewhat cliched.

However, Bast’s storytelling and world-building make up for any shortcomings, and those who enjoy romance and fantasy novels will surely be swept away by the book’s enchanting narrative. Overall, Wicked Enchantment by Anya Bast is a thoroughly enjoyable read that combines romance and fantasy with skillful storytelling.

It explores complex themes and delivers an entertaining plot that will leave readers wanting more. Fans of the genre, in particular, will find much to love in this work.

As such, this book is highly recommended for those who enjoy tales of magic, passion, and danger. Washington Post awards this book a well-deserved four out of five stars.
