Editoral Review

In her latest novel, Wish You Were Mine, Tara Sivec explores the complexities and emotions of love and loss in a beautifully written story that is sure to tug at readers’ heartstrings. Known for her romantic comedies, Sivec takes a more serious and emotional tone in this work, and delivers a poignant and powerful tale that will stay with readers long after they have finished the final page.

Set in a small town in Michigan, Wish You Were Mine tells the story of Charlotte and Aiden, two childhood sweethearts who were torn apart by tragedy years ago. When Charlotte returns home after years of living abroad, she is forced to confront her past and the man she once loved.

As they navigate their complicated feelings for each other, old wounds are reopened and secrets are revealed that threaten to destroy their fragile new relationship. Sivec’s writing is both intimate and eloquent, and she has a real talent for capturing the raw emotions of her characters.

From Aiden’s grief and guilt to Charlotte’s fear and vulnerability, readers will feel an immediate connection to these characters and their struggles. The small town setting adds to the overall charm of the story, and Sivec does a wonderful job of bringing it to life, painting a vivid picture of the community and its residents.

One of the strengths of Wish You Were Mine is its characters. Sivec has created a cast of fully realized, multi-dimensional people who are both flawed and relatable.

Aiden and Charlotte are particularly well-drawn, and readers will root for them as they navigate the ups and downs of their relationship. Sivec also weaves several subplots into the story, adding depth and complexity to the narrative.

That said, the pacing of the novel is a bit uneven, and there are times when the story drags or feels repetitive. Additionally, the book can be quite melodramatic at times, which may turn off some readers who prefer a more understated approach.

Overall, Wish You Were Mine is a beautifully crafted novel that is sure to resonate with readers who enjoy emotional and poignant love stories. While it may not be for everyone, those who are willing to invest in the story will be rewarded with a moving and meaningful read.
